WBUT, MCA, Sem I, Discrete Mathematical Structure (MM101) Papers
MCA students of West Bengal University, during 1st semester of their course have to study discrete mathematical structure and at the end of the semester, they have to undergo an examination of the subject. As far as MCA students are concerned, maths is very important and this paper is the most important of all.
Paper pattern
The paper consist of three sections, A, B and C. Section A consists of 13 questions. All the questions in this section are multiple choice questions. There are no negative marks for answering the question wrongly in this section. This section is compulsory and all the questions in this section have to be answered. Section B consists of seven questions. Out of these, three questions need to be answered by the candidates. All the questions in this section are short answer type and needs to be answered briefly and to the point. Section C consists of seven questions. Three questions have to be answered from this section. All the questions in this section are long answer type. The paper is totally mathematical.
Marking scheme
The paper is for a total of 70 marks. Section A carries 10 marks. Section B carries 15 marks and section C carries 45 marks. Special marks are allotted for clearly showing the steps leading to the answer in the question paper.
Duration of the paper
The paper is for duration of three hours. The candidates need to finish answering the question paper within this allotted time. No extra time will be provided. The first fifteen minutes of the examination is strictly meant for reading the question paper.
About the subject
The subject is purely mathematical and there is no way to learn this other than working out problems and practicing consistently. When preparing for the exam, take a look take the previous year question papers.
