Data communication Network is a paper encountered by a student of masters in technology in Electronics and communications in the 1st semester itself and is one of the five papers encountered in this semester. It is coded as EC-503.This subject is concerned with the overview of data communications and other network related concepts like network operating systems or multiplexing.

Paper pattern:

There are 8 questions in this paper and one is to attempt only five from the questions given. It is a subjective based paper and one needs to elaborate on topics given in the question paper. All the questions carry equal marks and therefore one need to devote time accordingly. There are sub questions in the questions which makes it easier for one to answer as these questions pertain to different aspects of a topic.

Maximum marks and maximum time:

The time allotted to solve this paper is 3 hours and the maximum marks are 100, as there are 5 questions each carrying 20 marks.

The frequently encountered questions are comparisons of analogue data signal and digital data signal, flow control in the data linked control and its applications, explanations of block diagram and its explanations related to topics like TDM and other topics. Architecture of the ATM systems and firewall filtering and other network related concepts.
