The paper on Heat Transfer is one of the papers that a student of Mechanical Engineering has to qualify in the fifth semester. The paper is coded as ME-305E and is a subjective paper on the core subject. It is a essay type question based paper. The paper on Heat Transfer is based on topics like modes of heat transfer and its mechanisms, Newtons law of cooling, thermal radiation and concepts of heat exchangers and other heat related topics.

The questions which find frequent occurrence in the paper are description and statement of general heat conduction equations, short notes on heat exchangers and its classification, concept of Reynolds number or Reynolds’s analogy, limitations and the applications of LMTD, relationship derivation between different entities like Nusselts number, Prandtl number etc. Numerical based on concepts like efficiency of heat exchangers etc, calculation of total heat loss of various given parameters and concepts of critical insulation radius. It is both a theoretical as well as numerical based paper and a student must be prepared to attempt all questions.
