Common Written Exam for Clerical Post in Banks Eligibility Criteria
The recruitment of clerks in Banks is carried out through certain competitive written exams. The Bank which carries out the recruitment process conducts these exams. The exam comprises of four major sections. The test covers questions on Numerical Ability, Reasoning, English language and Clerical Aptitude. The candidate has to score in each section to get through the entrance test. Certain Banks includes a descriptive paper in the same. The objective test is carried out to measure the analytical, logical and the grammatical skills of the candidate. The descriptive paper measures the comprehension skills and language proficiency of the candidate.
Basic Eligibility for Clerical Post in Banks
The eligibility insisted for Clerical Post in Banks may vary with the organization that carry out the same. Some banks insist +2 as the minimum educational qualification required for the purpose where as some insist on graduation. The basic eligibility required for State Bank of India is
The candidate should possess a pass in 12th class or equivalent. The qualification should be obtained from any of the recognized institutions with 60% marks on the same. 5% relaxation of marks is offered for SC/ ST/ PWD/ XS candidates. Or
The candidate should possess a two-year regular diploma course after 10th standard. The State Board of Technical Education of the concerned State should recognize the same. Or
The candidate should possess degree from a recognized University. They should have a minimum of 40% marks in graduation.
Qualifying examinations for Clerical Post in Banks
The recruitment of clerks is made through certain written tests conducted nationally. The test is carried out in different centers across the country. Even though there is cut off marks for each section, the total marks of the written test is taken into account during the selection process.

Age Qualification for Clerical Post in Banks
The candidate who applies for the Clerical Post must be in the age group of 18- 28 years. Relaxation of 3 years is offered for OBC candidates where as that of 5 years is offered for SC/ST candidates. Physically handicapped candidates can expect the age relaxation of 10 years. Age relaxation is also offered for ex-service man. They are provided with relaxation of 3 more years than the service rendered in defense services. The condition is subject to maximum age limit of 50 years.
