The Indian Institute of Technology of Kharagpur is the first ever IIT that is to be established in the country. Therefore the Government of India has recognized this institute as the Institute of National importance. The Indian Institute of Technology which is located at Kharagpur is a self governing technology and management oriented institute. It was inaugurated by the Government of India in 1951.

The department of Architecture was formed under the guidance of Professor E. Barner along with a group of ten students. Within no time, it completely developed under Graduate courses and Post graduate courses for the first time in the country.

Admission Process for B Arch in IIT Kharagpur

The admission into the institute is done through the entrance test, IIT JEE. The candidate should have passed the 12th grade examination or its equivalent from any one of the recognized schools under the Central Board of Higher Secondary Examination or the Council for Indian School Certificate examination. The candidates those who hold a diploma are also eligible to apply. The age of the aspirant should fall below 25 years. The age relaxation for SC/ST candidates is 5 years. All the candidates are requested to submit a Physical fitness certificate at the time of enrolment to the specified course. The candidates can obtain the IIT JEE application forms from the Head Post offices across the state by paying an amount of Rs 1000/-.

Fee structure of B Arch in IIT Kharagpur

The academic duration of B. Arch course is 10 semesters. The caution deposit that is to be remitted at the time of admission is Rs 4000/-. There is a onetime fees that has to pay. The amount of the onetime fees that has to be paid comes to around Rs 2300. The B Arch aspirants those who are falling under the general category have to pay Rs 15600 per semester as the tuition fees, The SC/ST students need to pay only Rs 2100 per semester.
