Admission to PG Diploma in Thermal Power Plant Engineering
National Power Training Institute (NPTI) is the only institute in India which offers Post Graduate Diploma in Thermal Power Plant Engineering. Common Entrance Test (CET) will be conducted for the intake of eligible candidates to this postgraduate diploma course. Based on the CET score, one can pursue this course at NPTI-NR, NPTI-SR, NPTI-NER, NPTI (HPTC), NPTI-ER or NPTI-WR. Candidates need to not only qualify the entrance test but also appear for the centralized counselling held at Nagpur to get admission.
Eligibility Criteria
Candidates need to have B.E/B.Tech or any equivalent qualification in Control and Instrumentation/ Electrical/ Mechanical/ Electronics/ Power Engineering. Those who are studying in the last semester of B.E/B.Tech course are also eligible to apply if they can submit their Provisional/Degree certificate during counselling.
Sponsored engineers from any Public Sector Undertaking or Private Power Utilities are eligible to pursue this course if they possess minimum one year post qualification experience. Such candidates should have minimum of 60% marks in B.E/B.Tech or any equivalent degree.
Upper age limit specified for non-sponsored candidates is 27 years. No age limit is specified in the case of sponsored candidates. Reserved category can claim age relaxation according to the rules of Government.
Admission procedure
Candidates who are interested to pursue PG Diploma in Thermal Power Plant Engineering should first of all fill online application form through the official website of National Power Training Institute (NPTI). A demand draft of Rs. 800/- should be taken in the name of ‘NPTI Nagpur’ so as to pay registration fee. Details of this demand draft should be entered while filling the online form. Complete registration by attaching all the relevant documents specified in the information brochure. Candidates should obtain the hardcopy of registration details to confirm the registration. Applicants will receive acknowledgement after submitting the applications.
It is an objective model test having duration of 150 minutes. Lot of attention should be given while answering each question as candidates can lose ¼ marks for each wrong answer. Basic aptitude, awareness in engineering aspects and knowledge in the concerned engineering discipline are tested through this entrance test conducted at Bangalore, Faridabad, Guwahati, Nangal, Durgapur, Delhi, Nagpur and Neyveli.
Centralized counselling will be held for the candidates who get qualified in the Common Entrance Test (CET). A merit list will be prepared in accordance with the CET score. Counselling will be held in the order of merit list. Candidates should be physically present at the specified counselling date. Score obtained in Common Entrance Test (CET) will determine their position in the merit list.
Information about counselling date and details can be received from the concerned authority through website, e-mail or post. All the relevant documents like Date of Birth certificate, Caste certificate, original mark sheets etc. should be submitted during the counselling. Sponsored candidates should submit their sponsorship letter, salary statement, experience certificate, photocopies of salary slips and appointment letter. Admission will be given after thorough verification of all relevant documents.
