Admission to Bachelor of Education in Indira Gandhi National Open University is carried out on the basis of entrance test conducted by the University. Graduation with a minimum of 50 % marks in aggregate is the minimum educational qualification required for the course. Candidates who seek admission to this course have to apply for the entrance exam with relevant documents. Entrance exam will be in objective type mode.

Eligibility Criterion for B.Ed in IGNOU

Candidates who have completed Bachelor’s Degree or Post Graduate Degree in any discipline with a minimum of 50 % marks in aggregate from a recognized University are eligible to apply. Masters’ Degree awarded without a bachelors degree is not considered for admission process. Candidates belonging to reserved category can avail 5 % relaxation in qualifying marks as per the norms issued by Government of India.

Apart from this, candidates who have two years full-time regular teaching experience in temporary/ permanent basis can also apply. Such candidates must have worked as teachers in any Primary, Secondary/ Higher/ Senior secondary school, recognized by the central or a state government. These candidates are supposed to be in service at the time of submitting application form as well as at the time of producing the original documents at the Regional Centre. They are required to submit the teaching experience certificate, issued by the Principal or Headmaster of the institution concerned.

Application procedure

Admission to the course is carried out on the basis of the scores obtained by the candidates in the entrance exam conducted by IGNOU all over India. Candidates are required to apply for the entrance exam in prescribed application form. Application form can be obtained from the regional centers of IGNOU with a payment of Rs.200/-. Fully filled in application form along with attested copies of supporting documents should be sent to the Regional center within the stipulated time. Candidates are required to choose their exam centers while filling up the application from. No change of exam centre shall be entertained from the candidate after the submission of Entrance cum Admission form.

Selection Procedure for B.Ed in IGNOU

Selection to the course is made on the basis of performance of the candidate in the entrance exam conducted by the University. There will be a total of 100 questions in the entrance exam. Questions will be in objective type. Each question carries one mark. There will be questions from topics such a teaching aptitude as well as from the subject specialized by the candidate. The medium of instructions will be in English as well as in Hindi.
