Recruitment Procedure for Sub Inspector in Railway Protection Force

Recruitment to the post of Sub Inspector in Railway Protection Force is conducted on the basis of performance in Written Test, Physical Efficiency Test and Viva Voce. Candidate should be a graduate in order to apply for this exam. Candidates who are in the age group of 20-25 years are eligible to apply.

Eligibility Criterion for Sub Inspector in Railway Protection Force

Only Indian citizens who have completed graduation in any subject from a recognized University are eligible to apply for this post. Candidates who have completed 20 years at the time of application are eligible to apply. Upper age limit for eligibility is 25 years. Candidates belonging to reserved categories, Ex-Servicemen, those who are from the state of Jammu & Kashmir can seek upper age limit as per the norms issued by the Government of India. Candidates should have the physical standards as mentioned below.

  • Height: 165 cms
  • Chest Unexpanded: 80 cms
  • Chest Expanded: 85 cms

Candidates belonging to reserved categories as well as female candidates can enjoy the relaxations as per the notification.

Selection Procedure of Sub Inspector in Railway Protection Force

Selection procedure is on the basis of performance in

  • Written Examination
  • Physical Efficiency Test
  • Physical Measurement
  • Viva-Voce Test

Pattern of Written Exam

There will be a total of 120 questions for written examination. Questions will be in objective type multiple-choice format. Each question carries one mark. Maximum time allotted for the entire test is 90 minutes. The question booklet comprises of three sections that is

  • General Awareness
  • Arithmetic
  • General Intelligence and Reasoning

General awareness section contains questions from topics such as Geography, General Polity, Sports, Indian Constitution, Scientific Research, History, Arts and Culture of India and General Science etc. Total marks allotted for this section is 50.

There will be questions on simple Mathematics, ratio and proportions, simple and compound interest, data interpretation, time and distance, Computation of whole numbers and ratio and time etc. This section carries questions for 35 marks.

Questions from General Intelligence and Reasoning are asked for a maximum of 35 marks. This section carries questions on problems solving analysis, visual memory, relationship concepts, verbal and figure classification, coding and decoding and syllogistic reasoning etc.

Medium of instructions will be in English as well as other regional languages. There will be negative marking for wrong answer. Candidates are required to score a minimum of 40% marks in written test so as to be eligible for further tests. Those who have cleared written test will be short listed for Physical Efficiency Test (Pet) And Physical Measurement. Final selection will be on the basis of performance in viva voce. Those who have participated in NCC in University level can avail bonus marks.
