Exam Pattern of Combined Graduate Level Examination 2013

Graduates from any of the recognized University can apply for Combined Graduate Level Examination 2013 till 15th February. The exam is conducted in three tiers or stages. Tier I is common for all posts and one paper of Tier II is applicable for candidates applying for the post of Statistical Investigator Grade-II and Compiler. Qualified candidates at these levels will be subjected for Skill Test/Interview for final selection.

Exam Pattern for Tier I

Tier-I examination is a single paper test for screening purpose. Those who pass this level are only allowed to attend Tier II test. However, marks obtained in Tier I test will be taken in to consideration, if the candidate is being selected for interview/skill test and also for final selection.  There will be 4 sections for the written test from the following topics.

  • General Intelligence & Reasoning
  • General Awareness
  • Numerical Aptitude
  • English Comprehension

Each of these sections contains 50 questions to make a total of 200 questions. Total time allotted for the completion of this section (Tier I) is 2 hours. Visually handicapped candidates are offered with relaxation in time. Such candidates need to complete the test within 2 hours 40 minutes only.

Exam Pattern for Tier II

There will be three papers for Tier II. First two papers will be common for all categories of posts. Paper III is compulsory for candidates applying for the post of Statistical Investigator Grade-II and Compiler. Questions will be asked from the following topics (in successive order).

  • Quantitative Ability
  • English Language & Comprehension
  • Statistics

Each section comprises of 100 questions for 200 marks (each section). Time duration allotted for the completion of each section is 2 hours. Here also visually handicapped candidates need to complete the test within 2 hours 40 minutes only.

Tier III (Interview/ Skill Test)

Personality Test/ interview are conducted for certain prescribed posts and marks for the section is 100. The following job positions are exempted from attending interview.

  • Accountant
  • Auditor
  • Compiler
  • Tax Assistant
  • UDC

Skill Test comprises of two types, Computer Proficiency Test and Data Entry Skill Test. Skill Test is applicable only for those who applied for the position of Assistant in CSS and Tax Assistants only. Computer Proficiency Test (CPT) (for Assistant in CSS) is conducted to evaluate candidate’s skill in Microsoft office tools like Spreadsheet, Microsoft Word and Power Point.  Data Entry Skill Test (for Tax Assistants) is meant to evaluate the typing speed of the candidate.
