Details of Prime Minister’s Fellowship Scheme for Doctoral Research
Prime Minister’s Fellowship Scheme for Doctoral Research is a fellowship program for Ph.D students organized by Science & Engineering Research Board (SERB) in collaboration with Confederation of Indian Industry (CII). Aspirants having registered for Ph.D in the ongoing academic year are eligible for the fellowship program. Under this scheme, a total of 100 fellowships are awarded every year. Fellowship amount given is around Rs 6 lakh per annum.
Overview of Prime Minister’s Fellowship Scheme for Doctoral Research
Prime Minister’s Fellowship Scheme for Doctoral Research is a joint venture of Science & Engineering Research Board (SERB) & Confederation of Indian Industry (CII). Fellowship is given for Ph.D students who have registered for the same in the ongoing academic year. Registration must be done with any of the recognized University/institute in any of the faculties of Science, Agriculture, Medicine, Technology, and Engineering. Fellowship is given for a maximum period of 4 years.
Eligibility Criteria for Prime Minister’s Fellowship Scheme for Doctoral Research
Aspirants having registered for Ph.D in the ongoing academic year are eligible for the fellowship program. Such candidates should have already identified a relevant area for research which should have practical application and industry relevance. They should find out a sponsor for carrying out the research related activities. Eligible candidate should have a proven track record. They should have the willingness to work in industry specific projects.
Benefits of Prime Minister’s Fellowship Scheme for Doctoral Research
Under the Prime Minister’s Fellowship Scheme for Doctoral Research, a total of 100 fellowships are awarded every year. Fellowship amount given is around Rs 6 lakh per annum. But those who are selected for this fellowship programme will stop to receive any other scholarships or fellowships offered by any other competent authority.
Application Process for Prime Minister’s Fellowship Scheme for Doctoral Research
Aspirants can submit applications online through the website of CII. Along with the application form, they must submit scanned copies of the following documents.
- Bio-data of Industry Mentor
- Bio-data of Ph. D Supervisor
- Letter from the Industry Partner on the research problem
- Photocopy of 10th Certificate
- Photocopy of 12th Certificate
- Photocopy of enrollment and registration for PhD
- Photocopy of Graduation Certificate
- Photocopy of the undertaking from the Head of the Organization of the Institute / University and the Research Supervisor
- Photocopy of Undertaking from the Industry Partner in the Research Project
Selection of suitable candidates is made from the pool of applications received. It is made by the joint committee of SERB and CII, through a transparent process.
