Procedure to join MBA in YMOU

Graduates with a minimum of 45% marks can seek admission to MBA degree in Yashwantrao Chavan Maharashtra Open University (YMOU). Admission process is done on the basis of a common entrance examination conducted by YMOU. Topics on Verbal Ability, Business Data Interpretation, and Business Judgement are asked for the entrance test.

Eligibility Criteria for MBA in YMOU

Candidates with Indian citizenship can apply. They should have completed bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 45% marks. Those belonging to reserved category can expect 5% relaxation in marks.

Admission Process for MBA in YMOU

Admission to MBA course is done on the basis of a common entrance examination conducted by YMOU. The entrance exam is designed in such a way as to measure the scholastic/mental abilities of the candidate. The test is conducted as a single paper for 100 marks. Duration of the test is 3 hours. Questions for the test are asked from the following topics.

  • Reading Comprehension
  • Verbal Ability
  • Numerical Ability
  • Business Data Interpretation
  • Business Application
  • Business Judgement

Twenty questions each are asked from the sessions of Verbal Ability, Business Data Interpretation, and Business Application. There will be 15 questions from each of the sessions of numerical ability and reading comprehension. Ten questions will be asked on business judgement. Multiple choice questions are asked for the test, each having four or five choices.

For reading comprehension, a passage of 400-500 words will be given. Candidates need to read and understand the passage clearly and should answer the questions following it. Verbal ability section includes questions from areas such as sentence completion / correction, antonyms, synonyms, and verbal analogies. Language competency, vocabulary, syntax, grammar, etc of the candidate are evaluated here..

The section of numerical ability is designed in such a way as to check the algebraic, geometrical, graphic, computational, and logical skills of the candidate. There will be questions to evaluate the numerical ability of the candidate. In Business Application, there will be simple problems related to economics, statistics, business, and commerce. Questions are mainly asked from the following sessions.

  • Average
  • Discount
  • Insurance
  • Interest (Simple and Compound)
  • Percentage
  • Profit and Loss
  • Ratio - Proportion
  • Speed
  • Stocks and Shares
  • Taxes – Rates
  • Time and Work
  • Variation

In the session of Business Judgement, there will be given details on a particular business situation or case study report.
