A Training and Placement Cell is functioning at Perunthalaivar Kamarajar Institute of Engineering and Technology (PKIET) to organize and coordinate the campus placement activities. The main responsibilities of the T & P cell include Preparation of brochures for departments, Inviting companies for campus placement, organizing industrial visits, conducting IQ tests periodically, etc. Students must register with the training and placement cell to participate in campus recruitment process. Registration fee is Rs.1000/-.

Main Responsibilities of Training and Placement in PKIET

A Training and Placement Cell is functioning at PKIET to organize and coordinate the campus placement activities. The main responsibilities assigned to the T & P cell is as follows.

• Preparation of brochures for departments
• Inviting companies and coordinating activities related to campus placement
• Collection and distribution of student’s appointment letters
• Providing in-plant training in industries
• Training students for clearing aptitude tests, group discussions, and interview
• Conducting IQ tests periodically
• Arranging Personality Development Workshops
• Informs students regarding various competitive examinations
• Organizing industrial visits
• Guiding students interested in Higher Education

The responsibilities are collectively carried out the Placement Officer and the student department representatives. Preparation of brochures for departments lies under the responsibility of the placement Officer and he/she sends the same to prospective companies by April of every year. The duty of arranging written test halls and interview for placement companies also vests with them. The student department representatives collect the student’s bio-data and checks whether they have adequate eligibility to participate in campus placements. Student’s eligibility will be finalized on company judgment. They handover the bio-data of students, satisfying the required eligibility conditions, for the particular company, that conducts campus recruitment. These bio-data are again handed over to the respective company by the Placement Officer.

Rules of Training & Placement Cell

Students must register with the training and placement cell to participate in campus recruitment process. Registration fee is Rs.1000/-. This amount is dispensed for brochure preparation, and for dispatching of brochure towards companies. The names of those students who got selected in the campus placements are removed from placement rolls. He/she is not allowed to participate to apply further campus recruitments, conducted at the college.

Students are requested to participate in the training and placement activities arranged by T & P cell. Soft skill training and personality development training programmes are given for students. They are also trained to improve their technical skills, aptitude skills, and communication skills. Training programmes are given by in-house faculties and faculties from external coaching centers. Students are exposed to seminars and presentations given by industry experts. These activities help students to groom themselves and face the recruitment process with confidence.
