Admission Process in Francis Xavier Engineering College
Admission to engineering degree is given either to first year or to second year through lateral entry. First year admissions are given for HSC holders who have studied Physics, Chemistry, and mathematics as subjects. This qualification must be obtained by open category candidates with a minimum of 50% marks. OBC candidates need to hold a minimum of 45%, MBC candidates must have at least 40% marks, and SC/ST candidates need to have mere pass in HSC to become eligible to apply. Admissions are done on the basis of IIT JEE or TNEA score.
Diploma holders in engineering / technology from the State Board of Technical Education and Training, Tamil Nadu or its equivalent can join to engineering degree through lateral entry. Science graduates having studied mathematics as a subject are also eligible to apply. Such candidates should have studied Physics, Chemistry, and mathematics as subjects at 12th class level.
B.Tech graduates or M.Sc holders with a minimum of 50% marks can look for M.E or M.Tech degree in the concerned degree. Those having obtained the qualification through distance or correspondence are not eligible. Admissions are done on the basis of the score secured in TANCET or GATE.
Graduates with a minimum of 50% marks can seek admission to MBA degree by qualifying TANCET or the Common Entrance Exam conducted by the consortium of self-financing institutions of Anna University. Graduates with a minimum of 50% marks and having studied mathematics as a subject can look for MCA degree. Score obtained in TANCET or national/state-level entrance test for MCA are considered for admission.
