M.Pharm. in Pharmacology
Pharmacology, in simple words, is the study of drug action. In details, it is the study of the interactions that take place between living organisms and exogenous chemicals that change the natural biochemical functions. Pharmacology is a discipline under pharmaceuticals. Some of the primary sub-divisions of this field of study are clinical pharmacology, neuron pharmacology, and pharmacogenetics and so on. M.Pharm. in Pharmacology is a master’s degree course in this sub discipline of the pharmaceutical department. It is counted among the unconventional courses which doesn’t, probably, attract huge number of students but surely boasts of excellence. It is also among the newly promoted fields of study in the national curriculum. Students of pharmacology are trained as researchers, studying the effects of substances to better analyze their mechanisms.
In order to pursue M.Pharm in Pharmacology, interested students/candidates must have at least passed their graduation in the discipline of science from any respectable university or college, national or foreign with 60% or above marks.
The course of M.Pharm in Pharmacology is of two years in duration. These two years are further divided into two semesters each.. Under special circumstances or situations, this duration may alter and tend to increase.
With the pharmaceutical industry experiencing good times and steady growth at present, the scope or job prospects in this field are only expected to grow as time passes gradually. Usually, big pharmaceutical companies take chemists for research and chemical engineers for process. Jobs are aplenty in both the disciplines. In simple words, the future looks bright for pharmacology students.
