Bachelor of Commerce which is commonly known as B.Com is one of the Undergraduate academic program in Commerce. The duration of this degree course is 3 to 4 years depending on the country. In India the duration for this course is 3years. B.Com degree is considered simpler to the science degrees but this is highly debatable. B.Com degree helps the students to be competent enough in managerial skills and in some areas of commerce. It enables the students to gain knowledge in economic policies, exposure to export and import laws, about trades and business and more about accounting principles. CA, ICWA, CSS and other related courses can be easily taken up by commerce students.

Advantages or Benefits of Doing B.com

B.Com Degree provides the students many job opportunities in financial services, hotel management and business, law, Management etc. It also offers openings in the government services, entrepreneurial ventures and banking industry etc.

B.Com also provide competency for the students in many subjects which they are capable of being self employed.

There is high employment rate for B.com degree students. No business is there which does not need a manager or an accountant to manage the financial aspects.

Eligibility Criteria for B.com

Students having atleast 50% marks in their 10+2 from a recognized board with Arts or Commerce and Science streams are eligible for B.Com degree. Students with commerce stream in 12th are given more priority.

Admission Procedure for B.Com

• Admissions for B.Com. Degree takes place on the basis of grade/percentage obtained in 10+2 and personal interview.
• Interview and counseling will be conducted according to the application forms submitted and the date will be informed by the college.
• Merit list will be put on the college notice board or on the web portal.
• Application will be available from the college offices and also can be downloaded.  The print-out or filled in application forms should be send to the colleges.

The Remuneration varies from industry to industry and also depends on the job profile. The Bank employee can start their career with salary ranges from Rs.14, 000-18,000/month. If working in the KPOs or other corporate field the starting salary can be Rs.4, 000-9,000. People in higher profiles can draw a salary of Rs.15,000 to Rs.25,000/month. The higher education in the specialized field and valid experience can increase the salary figure.
