B.Sc in Geophysics, Geophysics B.Sc
Geophysics is a branch of geology. It is the study of the physical processes and phenomenon occurring in the Earth and its vicinity. Geophysics includes the composition and movement of the layers of rock, soil characteristics, mining and minerals on earth’s crust. Geophysics is actually a hybrid of geology and physics. This branch has great economic importance as is deals with weather reporting to development of new ways of constructing monuments like bridges, dams etc.
Eligibility:
The candidate has to pass the higher secondary school certificate exam from any of the recognized boards in India. The candidate must have science stream in the higher secondary school studies. The minimum eligibility percentage in the 10+2 exam is 60%, but it varies from institute to institute. The admission to the B.Sc in Geophysics is generally on the basis of the marks obtained in the higher secondary school certificate exam. But some universities take admission on the basis of the entrance exam conducted by the institute itself.
Course Outlook:
B.Sc in Geophysics is a three year course. It is offered in both full time as well as part time mode. The course content includes the study of characteristics and properties of earth including geodesy, seismology, meteorology, oceanography, terrestrial magnetism, tidal phenomena, atmospheric electricity etc.
Job Prospects:
A geo-physician has the work of studying the composition of soil and that of earth’s surface of an area and to predict the feasibility of construction of monuments at that area. The work varies from being in various fields like exploration, geomagnetism, earthquake seismology, constructional geophysics etc.

i am bsc ty student my group is physics comp chemistry can i study in msc geophysics
i am 10+2 completed. i want to get admission in bsc in geo physics. tell me the college in which i can do this course. and i get 79.6% in 10+2
If i compleat geography hons with good persentage,can i directly apply for oceonography?n also if i dont have pure science bagraund in 10+2 exam?
