CSAT Exam Pattern
Civil Services Aptitude test is carried out by UPSC for the selection of eligible candidates in Indian Government Services. The exam is conducted as the preliminary round of the Civil Services exam. This is one of the most prestigious entrance exam conducted in the country. By gaining adequate score in this competitive examination, interested candidates can get into government services such as IAS, IPS, IFS, Post, Telegraph etc .
The applicant must be a graduate in any stream from any of the recognized Universities of India. Final year students who have appeared for the examination are also eligible. Indian citizenship is necessary for certain post such as IAS, IPS, IFS etc where as subjects of Nepal or Bhutan or Tibetan refugees can opt for other services. The age of the general applicants should be between 21-30 years. A relaxation of 3 years is given to those belonging to OBC and 5 years to that for SC/ST candidates.
The application forms along with the information brochure can be collected through main post offices or from specific branches of banks across the country. After filling up the application form correctly, the applicant should post the same to the concerned address. The application should reach the destination before the last date. Online submission of application is also possible. It can be done through the official website of UPSC. Those who collect the application form through post office have to pay Rs. 100 as application fee. The application amount of Rs.50/- have to be paid through bank if the application form is submitted through online method.

Question pattern of CSAT Exam
The questions in CSAT are designed in such a way as to measure the aptitude and reasoning skills of applicants. The exam is carried out in two separate papers. First paper includes general questions where as the second one includes aptitude testing questions. The time duration allotted for each paper is 2 hours. A total of 200 marks are awarded for each paper. The model of questions for the competitive test is objective type. The general paper may include questions on current events, Indian history, general science, and so on. English comprehension, mental ability, Numerical ability, reasoning etc are tested through the second paper.
