Even though Gerontology and Geriatrics deals with ageing, both are entirely different subjects of study. Gerontology is concerned with the study of the communal, psychosomatic and biological facets of ageing. However, Geriatrics is a sub division of internal medicine that is all about the health care of aged people.

The former helps to predict the life expectancy of a society whereas the latter helps to improve and increase the life expectancy of older people by promoting their health conditions by providing them various treatments and care.
