Food is energy source of the existing life force on the earth. So production, processing and consumption of food are a very important factor in the present scenario. Specially, while processing the food material one needs to take care of factors like hygiene-parameters and nutritional aspects, preservation methods and more importantly various regulations involved. Hence, there is a need of expert workforce in this field to do these jobs. So, students are trained and provided a diploma in this sector.
Eligibility Criteria
Candidates applying for diploma in food processing must have B.Sc. with 45% or 12th Science pass with subjects Chemistry, Physics, Botany, Zoology, Microbiology or Home Science. Candidates with this qualification and Sanitary Inspectors Diploma from AIILSG will be given preference.
Course outlook
Diploma in Food Technology is an 18 months course designed to train the students on various aspects of food processing like food selection, food processing, food analysis, food safety hygiene & sanitation, food adulteration, inspection and regulations. They are provided with practical and theoretical knowledge and end term result is based on the performance of the candidate. There are further options to obtain higher degree in the field in this sector.

The diploma holders of food technology have good job prospects in the present scenario where there are numerous companies, large and small scale, which is involved in processing and packaging of the food products for the consumer of the market. With the need of instant foods for the fast paced modern life, there are more job opportunities for the diploma holders too in entrepreneurship.
