Diploma in Tool and Die Making Course Admission
Diploma in Tool and Die making is a unique course that is available only in few polytechnic institutes. Duration of the course is normally four years which includes one year industrial training. Admission to the course is made through an entrance test and interview.
Eligibility
Candidates who have passed matriculation/ CBSE/ THSLC/ VHSE from any recognized board with a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate with Mathematics and Science (Physics & Chemistry) as core subjects are eligible to apply. Reserved category students require 40% marks in aggregate to qualify. Candidates should be aged between 15 and 18 at the time of admission. Candidates who belong to reserved category can avail age relaxation as per the government norms. Candidates are required to possess good physical fitness with a minimum height of 148 cms and 40 kg of weight.
Admission process
Admission to the diploma course is based on the scores obtained in the entrance test and interview, conducted by different institutes. The written test will contain two papers that is Mathematics and Science with a maximum time limit of one hour. Candidates can expect matriculation standard questions in multiple choice objective type formats. Medium of instruction is in English. There will be 50 questions in each section and there is no negative mark for wrong answers.
Candidates who have completed higher secondary education with 50 % marks or candidates, who have won prizes in state level sports / cultural activities, will get grace mark of 5 % of total marks obtained in the entrance test. Final selection will be based on the scores obtained in the written test and in the final interview.

The course is designed to provide technical skills in die making and tool through class room instructions as well as industrial training. The duration of the course is 4 years including 3 years of class room instruction and one year industrial training. Year wise course syllabus is provided below.

As part of industrial training, candidates will be sent to different commercial tool rooms in their fourth year. Industrial training is designed so as to get good industrial exposure to acquire in-depth knowledge about the practical use of die making and tool techniques.
