Re: Lateral Entry in NIT through AIEEE?
Hello friend,
I don't think NITs take lateral entries in any engineering branch. You can be admitted in other engineering colleges other than NIT. These institutes admit students in lateral scheme through some entrance exams like JELET. Different colleges conduct different lateral entry exams. Based on the rank of that exam you can take admission in good engineering colleges. Best of luck! |

Re: Lateral Entry in NIT through AIEEE?
Yes you can appear for AIEEE but unfortunately there is not lateral entry in NITs. You will be admitted to 1st year instead of 2nd year. This is only for IIT and NITs.
But dont worry there are many other colleges similar to NITs like Thapar, Manipal, IPU etc colleges who take lateral entry to 2nd year. But if you really want to get into NIT then answer AIEEE and get into 1st year. The only difference here is that you may waste additional year in NIT rather than direct 2nd year in other colleges |

Re: Lateral Entry in NIT through AIEEE?
yes my friend, you can take admission as lateral entry but you can not apply for the NIT because there are not any provision of lateral entry in NIT.
But do not worry you will get admission in all the other colleges including all the private colleges . Mostly all private colleges take the students on the basis of lateral entry ,but this too is not so easy,so do your study first . All the best. |

Re: Lateral Entry in NIT through AIEEE?
Dear friend
Sorry, but you will not get lateral admission in NIT's Or in IIT's. But you can get any other good colleges, who offers lateral entry admission. But for this you have to appear in the AIEEE entrance exams. After clear this exams, you will get admission direct in 2nd year. After clear the AIEEE exams, you will get admission in these colleges like Sharda University, Noida Manipal University Punjab University Thapar Institute of Engineering & Technology Patiala Amity School of Engineering SRM Institute of Science and Technology. |

Re: Lateral Entry in NIT through AIEEE?
Sorry friend, the National Institutes of Technology (and even the Indian
Institutes of Technology) do not allow lateral Entry into Btech programs. If you are quite keen on joining these premier technical institutes, you will have to clear the AIEEE and take admission in the 1st year of the 4 year Btech program. If you are not ready to waste that extra-year, then you can go for engineering institutes and colleges that have a Lateral Entry system at place. A number of Engineering/Technical institutes affiliated to Anna University allow entry into 2nd year. Then, there is the Indraprastha University, Kalinga University, Manipal University, Thapar University and so on. |

Re: Lateral Entry in NIT through AIEEE?
Dear friend
if you give AIEEE exam then you will get admission only in first year because lateral entry is not possible in NITS because in government colleges there is no lateral entry. all the best |

Re: Lateral Entry in NIT through AIEEE?
Diploma engineers having 60% aggregate including all semesters are well eligible to appeaer for both IIT-JEE and AIEEE, but there are not allowed to take admission in 2nd year of B.Tech........
IIT's NIT's Universities of National Importance (For example:- DCE) Some Deemed Universities (For example:- BITS) They all doesn't have lateral entry scheme. HRD Ministry and Institutes Authorities itself has restricted it. Various time Proposals are made to HRD Mnistry but was rejected on the ground that it will effect the Quality and Brand of such institutes. So, even if a diploma hgolder is taking admission he/she will be provided admission into first year of B.Tech. But other good universities are there where you will find a lateral entry scheme, such colleges are VTU, Karnataka ANNA University, Chennai BPUT, Orissa UPTU, UP KIIT, Bhubaneswar SRM VIT SOA, Bhubaneswar These colleges also have very good placement record along with good faculty and management. ALL THE BEST |

Respected sir,
My name is S.S.Nizamudeen and i am from Neyveli.I am doing final year Diploma in Mechanical Engineering. And i like to do my engineering in NIT.And also i know that there is no lateral entry in NIT and IIT. But moreover diploma students are has practical knowledge and having basic concept in their field(i.e. their own department) and my query is why there is no lateral entry in NIT and IIT? If there is lateral entry in b.tech college it will be very useful for us to get more knowledge in higher studies also. |
