Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee College of Education was set up in the year 2005. The college is approved by the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE). The college is affiliated to the Assam University. The main aim of the college is to create qualified and skilled teachers through experienced lecturers and modern facilities.

The college admits about 100 students for the B. Ed course every year. The primary objective of the college is to develop the status of women in the society. The college provides first-rate education to women as well as offers different cultural activities and sports for the total growth of its students.

The Shyama Prasad Mukherjee College also offers short-term certificate courses, diploma courses and training courses in different disciplines such as English, Applied Psychology, Political Science, Sanskrit, Hindi, Commerce, History, Economics, Mathematics, Commerce and Arts.

B. Ed (Bachelor of Education). The duration of the course is one year.

Eligibility criteria for getting admission:

The candidates, who have passed graduation in any stream with a minimum of 50% marks, are eligible to apply for the B. Ed course. They must get qualified in the interview and viva-voce conducted by the admission committee of the college.
