Eligibility Criteria and Admission Process for M.Tech in Nanotechnology

Karunya University, Delhi University, and Aligarh Muslim University are among those few universities to offer master degree courses in Nanotechnology. Delhi University offers M.Tech in Nano Science and Technology with course duration of 3 years. Candidates with M.Sc or engineering degree can seek admission to the course. Selection of eligible candidates is done on the basis of entrance test conducted by the concerned University, GATE or IIT JAM.

Eligibility Criteria for M.Tech in Nanotechnology

Engineering graduates who have studied mathematics at higher secondary level can apply for the course in Karunya University. M.Sc graduates in any of the following streams are also eligible.

  • Physics
  • Chemistry
  • Materials Science
  • Biotechnology

The qualification must be obtained from a recognized University with a minimum of 60% marks.

Bachelor degree holders who have studied Physics, Chemistry or Electronics (as a subject) can join M.Tech in Nano Science and Technology at Delhi University. General category candidates must possess minimum first class marks in qualifying examination where as reserved category candidates needs to have 55% marks only. Age of the candidate must not be less than 20 years.

Eligibility requirements for the course in Aligarh Muslim University is a pass in any stream of engineering with a minimum of 65% marks. Post graduates in Physics or Chemistry with at least 60% marks can also apply.

Sastra University offers M.Tech degree in Medical Nanotechnology. Candidates seeking admission to the course must be a graduate in engineering/medicine/pharmacy/veterinary science. Engineering graduates must have completed the course in any of the following streams.

  • Chemical Engineering
  • Pharmaceutical Technology
  • Biomedical Engineering
  • Biotechnology

M.Sc graduates in Biochemistry or Biotechnology, or Chemistry are also eligible to apply.

Admission Process for M.Tech in Nanotechnology

Most of the Universities offer admission to M.Tech in Nanotechnology on the basis of GATE score. Those without valid GATE score can seek admission on the basis of entrance exam conducted by the concerned college/University. Sastra University also offers admission on the basis of candidate’s performance in qualifying UG/PG examination. In Delhi University, candidates having adequate score in IIT JAM for Physics, Chemistry, or Electronics can participate in admission process.

Applications forms including prospectus can be collected from the official portal of the concerned University. Application fee for the course in Delhi University is Rs. 250/-. This fee may vary slightly with University. Filled up application forms along with attested copies of mark lists must reach University office before last date. Online application submission is also possible.

Short listed candidates on the basis of entrance test score will be informed about the date for interview. Those who can get through this final round can seek admission to the course.
