M.Tech in Nanotechnology

The science of nanotechnology may be a relatively new field but is fast emerging. It is an interdisciplinary subject mainly including Physics, Chemistry, Bio- informatics, Bio- technology, etc. A number of scientists proclaim the 21st century to be the century of nanotechnology. It is expected to revolutionize every area form medicine to technology.

Job Prospects

The field is still in its nascent stage in India born just about 16 years ago, the country aims to stay on par with the western world.  As a result, there is a great demand for students who do their M. Tech in nanotechnology because a large number of industries and laboratories in India and overseas would lab them up.

In order to pursue M.Tech in Nanotechnology you need to have a degree in Biotechnology, Physics or chemistry. You need to clear the GATE Exam as well as be of 21 years of age.

Course Outlook

It is important to note that although all the institutions at the moment are focusing on research, there is no institute which exclusively provides courses in nanotechnology.

Best Places To Pursue

Given below are some institutions offering nanotechnology:

•    Jawaharlal Nehru Center for Advanced Scientific Research, Bangalore;
•    Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore;
•    National Physical Laboratory, Delhi;
•    Solid State Physics Laboratory, Delhi;
•    National Chemical Laboratory, Pune;
•    Central Scientific Instruments Organization, Chandigarh;
