Karnataka Common Entrance Test is conducted for admission to Engineering, Medical, and Dental Courses offered by colleges in Karnataka. The examination is conducted every year. Applications are invited from eligible candidates of Karnataka including the wards of Jammu & Kashmiri migrants. Those who score well in this entrance test can seek admissions to first year Medical / Dental / Ayurveda / Homoeopathy / Engineering / Technology / Architecture courses in Government aided professional institutions of Karnataka.

Eligibility Requirement

For Medical / Dental courses, the applicant should have passed 12 std or equivalent examination with Physics, Chemistry and Biology as optional subjects. The course curriculum must include English subject also. Those who have obtained a minimum of 50% aggregate marks in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology group are eligible to attempt this exam. For Engineering and Technical courses the candidates are required to secure a minimum of 40% marks with Physics and Mathematics along with Chemistry or Computer Science as optional subjects.

For candidates belonging to the scheduled tribes, scheduled castes and other backward classes the minimum required marks is 40% in aggregate. Age of the candidate must not be less than 17 years.

Exam Pattern

There will be two papers for the entrance test. Paper I includes questions from Physics and Chemistry. There will be 60 questions from each of these subjects. Paper II comprises of questions from Mathematics and Biology. Students who seek admission to engineering courses must attend Mathematics paper, where as Biology section is meant for aspirants seeking admission to medical courses. Those who are trying for engineering and medical courses should attend both the sections of Paper II. This can be possible as separate time is scheduled for attending Mathematics and Biology sections.

Syllabus for the exam is based on the topics covered under qualifying exam. Other than this, applicants of Karnataka State should attend Kannada Language Test (Paper-III) also. All individual papers for Karnataka CET are conducted in separate days, in any of the selected exam centers. Time Duration for each paper is as follows:

• Paper I – 160 minutes
• Paper II- 80 minutes
• Paper III-60 minutes

Application Procedure

Detailed brochure cum application can be obtained directly from CET Cell by sending a self attested envelop and a demand draft for Rs. 750/-taken in favor of “Special Officer, CET Cell, Bangalore” payable at Bangalore. Candidates have to affix their recent passport size photo in the column provided in application form. Details of higher secondary examination and the details of any previous entrance test if appeared should be mentioned clearly in the application form. Application to this exam must be send only by speed post.
