Exam Pattern and Application Procedure for UPSC SCRA
Candidates need to pass UPSC written examination for SCRA post. UPSC official site publishes important details about SCRA exam. Questions from subjects such as General Knowledge, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics etc will be covered in this exam. Candidates who clear written exam need to undergo a Personality test.
Scheme of Examination for UPSC SCRA
The selection test by UPSC for the post of Special Class Railway Apprentices (SCRA) mainly consist of two different levels –
Level – I – The first level involves a written examination which consists of multiple choice questions. Candidates will be asked questions relating to the subjects studied at the Intermediate level. The written examination is sub divided in to three main parts which are as follows –
Part 1 - General Ability Test (English, Psychological test and General Knowledge)
- Time frame – 2 hours
- Maximum Marks – 200 marks
Part 2 – Physical Sciences (Physics and Chemistry)
- Time frame – 2 hours
- Maximum Marks – 200 marks
Part 3 - Mathematics
- Time frame – 2 hours
- Maximum Marks – 200 marks
Level II – This level will generally include a personality test. Candidates will be awarded a total of 200 marks in this level of examination. It is mandatory for candidates to qualify Level I of written exam to attempt the personality test.

Application Procedure for UPSC SCRA
Candidates need to submit applications online by logging in to the official site of UPSC - www.upsconline.nic.in. All the important details about completing the application form which candidates should be careful about are provided in the website. After submission of application form candidates will get a RID (Registration ID). The application fee for this exam is Rs 100/- (no fee payment is essential for SC/ST/PH and female candidates). The fee needs to be paid at an SBI bank only. Mode of payment needs to be either cash or via internet banking.
