The first public service commission was set up by British Indian Government in the year 1926. Later a Federal Public Service Commission was established under the Government of India Act, 1935. As a result of this, Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission was established on April 1, 1937. The headquarters of the commission are located at Allahabad. The prime function of the commission is to make recruitment on the government posts through the conduct of the written examination and the interview session.
