Hello Friend,
From 2011 there will be no exam of optional subjects in Preliminary Exam of UPSC CSE and the optional paper has been replaced by Civil Services Aptitude Test(CSAT). So don't worry about optional subjects in prelims and prepare for other parts of Prelims exam and for Mains Exam. For details regarding to UPSC CSE kindly visit www.upsc.gov.in Good Luck. |

Re: How to choose the optional subjects for upsc preliminary and mains exams? can I choose more than one option?
Hello friend,
According to new pattern of UPSC exam there is no optional subjects in preliminary exam. So prepare for the preliminaries first. If you are selected then you are eligible for the mains. Here you have to choose the optional subjects. So i advise choose any subject which you have studied earlier or you can select any subject as per your choice of interest. Well as you are chartered accountant then you must choose accounts or economics as a optional subjects as well as main. The choice is depends upon you........all the best!!!! |

Re: How to choose the optional subjects for upsc preliminary and mains exams? can I choose more than one option?
Hello Friend
You must choose that subject in which you have your basics strong or you should have a good command on the subject.I can suggest you to take MATH so that you can do well in the exam.I would suggest you to go as per your compatibility with a particular subject.I would suggest you to forget that CUTOFF word and prepare your subject. Best of luck.. |

Re: How to choose the optional subjects for upsc preliminary and mains exams? can I choose more than one option?
Hello,
I am new to the civil services preparation. I have a strong biology background and have decided on geography and zoology as the two optional subjects for mains. I am wondering if anyone can give me some tips and guidance for preparations. For geography I have decided to take extra coaching but for zoology I will be preparing on my own. any help or useful suggestions will be great. |

Re: How to choose the optional subjects for upsc preliminary and mains exams? can I choose more than one option?
Hi dear,
I would suggest you to go as per your compatibility with a particular subject. If you like Philosophy and you have knowledge of it, you must go for it. Generally literature students are good at philosophy and so you are so your choice is not uncommon. There use to be different cutoffs for different subjects in civil services and so people get confused during choosing their optionals. I would suggest you to forget that CUTOFF word and prepare your subject. If you think about cutoffs it means you are aiming for the least possible score. Try to think about the best possible score only then you will have chances to qualify. Thanks |
