Re: IAS after B.Tech in Computer Science?
Hello Friend,
You can appear in UPSC IAS Exam after completing your engineering or when you will be in Final year of the engg. course The eligibility for IAS Exam is graduation in any discipline and age limit is 21 to 30 years. For optional subject choose that subject: 1. In which you are interested and is familiar with 2. Easy to understand 3. Which is comfortable for you My suggestion will that you can choose Public Administration or History or Geography or Political Science. Since you are from science background you can also choose physics or mathematics as optional subjects for Mains Exam. For your information there will be no exam of optional paper in UPSC IAS Exam 2011 and after 2011. For details please visit www.upsc.gov.in Good Luck. |

Re: IAS after B.Tech in Computer Science?
Yes
Graduate in any discipline is eligible to give IAS exam . Now the pattern of the Exam has changed for the prelims . In prelims earlier candidate has to select optionals subjects but now every candidate has to give Paper-1 & 2 of prelims. All the candidates now will be judged on the basis of common platform in prelims..... The Mains has the same pattern which was earlier here candidate has to select the optionals .... you can choose Mathematics, Geography or electircal engineering as a subject for optionals....... Best of luck ....... for more details refer:- http://www.upsc.gov.in |

Re: IAS after B.Tech in Computer Science?
Hi dear,
here your question is totally concerned about my wish, but as a matter of fact you are the one who is going to appear for the IAS exams and not me so my suggestion for you may be or may not be as fruitful in terms of applying it in practice but you have to follow some simple steps without getting nervous. so i will suggest you in very simple way irrespective of whomsoever tells you whatever about the preparation just choose the subject as per the priority i.e 1. your intrest. 2. if you think you can handle the subject, then go for it. 3. if you like technical studies, then opt for it. 4. if you don't then go for some simple subjects like literture ones. 5. & if you are totally confused then best option is look for a good IAS coaching centre and ask them which subject they can teach and you can grasp.. that is the last way out for choosing a subject in a total mind black out situation.. ihope that will help you to some extent ,, bbye take care and good luck.. Thank |

Re: IAS after B.Tech in Computer Science?
Yes, IAS is open for every Indian graduate, irrespective of his/her stream of study, with equal opportunity (equally tough - the syllabus is crafted such that no particular stream gets an edge over the other) for all.
You can refer to the prospectus of the UPSC exam for details like examination pattern, choice of subjects. |
