i am keen to take ias exam so some one plz suggest me in a better way.
im doing my final year BE in computer science engineering.so which among the subjects in ias is better for students of my kind(ie computer science engineering students)?

it is the common misconception that the choosing the subjects related only to ur field will help u to achieve the best results in the field!!!


it is proved survey that the students choosing the optional subjects as geography and political science fare well in the exams!!!

so choose wisely... all the best!!

Details Related to IAS exam

The scheme of IAS exam is that there are 2 papaers of objective type of total 450 marks.
Paper -1 is of general studies carryng 150 marks.
Paper-II is of the subject which you will have to choose carrying 300 marks .

For Paper-II you can select one ot the 23 options given.Your options include below mentioned list:

• Agriculture
• Mathematics
• Animal Husbandry & Vetinary Science
• Mechanical Engineering
• Botany
• Medical Science
• Chemistry
• Philosophy
• Civil Engineering
• Physics
• Commerce
• Political Science
• Economics
• Psychology
• Electrical Engineering
• Public Administration
• Geography
• Sociology
• Geology
• Statistics
• Indian History
• Zoology
• Law

You belong to computer science field so according to me it will be best for you to select one of the below mentioned options:

• Mathematics---Because computer science has maths to some extent in its syllabus
• Physics--Because Computer science is one of the field which is the branch of Physics.

So I think that you will be very much comfortable if you select ne of the above 2 subjects.

Finally it depends on your choice.Decision should be done by you only after thinking that whether you find these subjects easy or not.

IAS is the highest respected post in India.So its not so easy to crack the exam.You will have to work very hard.

Most important thing is that you can appear for it only 4 times.So prepare properly before appearing for it.

Civil Services Examination

It consits of two paper and each paper of Two hrs..


(Paper 1) (200 marks) consists of

• Current events.
• History
• Geography
• Indian Polity and governance
• Economic and social development
• and General science.

It is of purely objective type and qualifying exam...

(Paper II) (200 marks)

• Comprehension
• Logical reasoning and analytical ability
• Decision making and problem solving
• General mental ability
• Basic numeracy(Class X level)
• English language comprehension skills (Class X level)

It is of purely subjective type and followed by interview....

In comprehension subjective paper following are the optional subject you can choose any one of it

• Economics
• Electrical Engineering
• Geography
• Geology

you can select any subject on which you have command.

Depending on your interest only.
some tips for you
1.if you choose any subject depending on your interest after that you have to check those books or material available in marker or not?

2.and coaching institutes available or not check it.

3.if you don't like, leave it.there is no option for leave try make interest.

In comprehension subjective paper following are the optional subject you can choose any one of them -

Engineering and computer students can opt for geography will be easier for science students. If you do good map reading , you can score really well. Then there are some areas in geography , which will be useful for general studies also. The other subject may be sociology/psychology/public administration. To select the option. please go through the detailed syllabus and old questions. that will give an idea to select on appropriate optional.

is IT student are eligible for exam

no you are not eligible for IAS Exam.

The best is math and physics but i will rather suggest you to go for what you like.
