hello nikita,
you have lots of opportunities, you can write for IAS exam as the eligibility for it is graduate from recognized university. You cant write for IES exam, but if you want to do MBA after your btech you can write for JMET exam to get into IITS. ALL the best and do well!! |

Re: Scope in IAS or IES after B.Tech (CSE)?
hi...
it is true that there is no paper of computer science in ies and ias, so its really tough for you in the ies exam which deals with pure engineering knowledge and it would be very tough for to prepare in it , but as far as ias exam is concerned you can choose any two subjects in which you feel you are very good and give the exam, also from this year the prelims exam is just containing two papers which is general studies and aptitude which is same for all the students so it would be equal platform for you also all the best |

Re: Scope in IAS or IES after B.Tech (CSE)?
Since the pattern of the Civil Service examination is changed from the year 2011 hence you have a chance to get selected in CSAT if you prepare well for it.
The CSAT would consist of two papers:- The paper 1 consists of Current events,Economic and social development,Indian Polity and governance,General issues on environmental ecology,bio-diversity,Indian and World Geography, History of India and Indian national movement. The paper 1 is of 200 marks with 2 hours provided for the examination. The paper 2 consists of English i.e Comprehension,Logical reasoning,Interpersonal skills and Basic numeracy. The paper 2 is of 200 marks with 2 hours provided for the examination. Its better that you prefer books of Goyal Brothers Prakashan for both History, civics and geography. So,the new format of the CSAT examination almost consists nothing of the engineering subjects hence you need to prepare well for the examination. Well, your eligible for the IAS but not for the IES examination.the examination is restricted to only four of the branches in Engineering i.e Mechanical, electrical,Electronics and Civil. |

Re: Scope in IAS or IES after B.Tech (CSE)?
You don't have opportunity to write IES
but you can go with IAS exam the basic eligibility criteria for Civils is -> you should have a degree of any stream from a recognized university. -> your age should be min of 21 years and should not exceed 30 years.. this is the eligibility criteria for Civils.. if you full fill all the require ments then you can attempt IAS this year.. aTB ~aditya~ |

Re: Scope in IAS or IES after B.Tech (CSE)?
Hello,
you have a slightly wrong information. actually the only educational criteria for IAS is a graduate in any field from any recognized university. so undoubtedly you are eligible for that irrespective of your stream. and in case of IES, only four branches are available: -Electrical -Electronics and Communication' -Civil -Mechanical you have to choose any on the above stream as your branch to sit for IES. It does not matter if you are CSE student. |
