Being a Diploma Engineer, admission process for you is not different, its same as for +2 students.

You have to appear for IITJEE.

For Diploma Holders eligibility is such that they must have passed there 3 years/4years Diploma Engineering with at least 60% aggregate including all semesters from AICTE approved or any other government Rcognised Polytechnic Institute/College. Candidate appearing in there final of diploma are also eligible to sit for entrance.

MAximum 2 attempts are permissible in aconsecutive year..

For example:- IF you are appearing for IITJEE in 2011 for the 1st time then you can also appear for IITJEE 2012. But no more times after that.

Notification will be released in Lading News Papers, websites etc. in the month of December or first week of January and all details regarding form availability etc. will also be notify there.

Hi,
You have done diploma so it does not make any difference for you to apply for IIT examination.

To apply for IIT there is an exam called IIT-JEE which you would have to crack.
Here the students who have passed there all semesters of diploma with or above 60% all eligible for IIT-JEE .

Here you can have 2 attempts to crack IIT-JEE.

The notice of the examination would be publish in all leading newspapers as well as many magazines.
You can also visit its website for the date and entrance form.
All The Best.

dear friend,
In IIT there are no provision for lateral entry, so you have to take admission in 1st year & for appearing IIT-JEE the minimum education qualification is just +2, & maximum chance for appearing is only twice, one at a time of appearing in +2 & next year only.

If you are eligible then you can apply.

good luck.

Dear friend,
the admission procedure for diploma holders in IIT is not different from 10+2 IIT exam.you have to give IITJEE like 10+2 and the eligibility is that you should have 60% marks in all the semesters from any AICTE approved college or any goverment college.maximum 2 attempts are allowed.and based on the rank you get admission into the IIT.the exam details will be available in the month of december or january.

First of all, let me make it clear that the IITs do not have any Lateral Entry Scheme. As such, you will have to appear in IITJEE.

Now, coming to the eligibility for appearing in IITJEE:

Age - maximum 25 for General category candidates; 30 for SC/ST candidates.

Educational Qualification - 10+2/ two year pre university or any other equivallent examination conducted by a recognized board or University pass with 60% (Genral Candidates) or 55% (SCs/STs).

or

3 or 4 year Diploma (recognized by AICTE or a state Board of technical education) pass with 60% or more.

Like all applicants, Diploma holders are also allowed a maximum of 2 attempts in two consecutive years.

Keep checking the IIT sites for Entrance Exam updates. The IITs also advertise/notify through important dailies.

Yes you can apply for IIT JEE. But you wont be admitted to direct second year like in the case of those colleges which allow lateral entry. So opt for it only if you wanna go for the 1st year.

The eligiblity and other details you will get once the notification is out. As for now i guess faiyaz has provided lots of info on that.

But i must say that you will need to work hard for IIT JEE as its really tough to crack the nut

Best of luck

you can't take admisson in IIT after Diploma.

through lateral entry test, diploma holders in Mechanical Engineering can't join in IITs.

as to join iits, students should have to appear in the the IIT-JEE EXAM.

hi friend,

A candidate , who wish to sit in IIT JEE exam, should have passed class 12th or equivalent with atleast 60% marks in aggregate. There is 5% relaxation for SC/STs. Since you have done diploma which is of no use in JEE exam, because they do not through diploma course, they want only 12th passed candidates.
IIT JEE forms can be obtained at designated bank branch in your circle or you can also apply online for this. visit this for further info:

in IIT there are no lateral entry scheme. so after your diploma you will not be eligible to take admission in IIT with lateral entry scheme directly into second year.

if you want to take admission in IIT after your diploma in mechanical engineering then you have to appear in IIT JEE examination. in the examination you have to make a good rank and then you will be eligible to take admission in IIT in first year of engineering. note that in IIT you have to take admission from first year. but if you go for other institution through lateral entry then you will be able to take admission directly in second year of engineering. it will save your one year.

best wishes.

dear friend,
there is no lateral entry in IIT for diploma holders. so you will have to apply for the exam like other students doing 12th class. the age limit for the exam is 26years. the forms will be available in all the main branches of syndicate bank. and make sure that you must be having atleast 60% or above marks in diploma for getting admission in iit.

hi!

Sorry, IITs do not provide admission to diploma students directly to third year of engineering. IITs do not have lateral entry scheme.

For getting admission in IIT you need to appear in IIT JEE.

IIT JEE 2011 eligibility is as follows:
Age limit: The date of birth of candidates belonging to GE, OBC and DS categories should be on or after October 1,1986. Whereas the date of birth of those belonging to SC, ST and PD categories should be on or after October 1,1981.

Educational qualification: Candidates belonging to GE, OBC and DS categories must secure at least 60% marks in aggregate in their 10+2 or equivalent exam referred to as qualifying exam (QE). Whereas, those belonging to SC, ST and PD categories must secure at least 55% marks in aggregate in the QE.

One can attempt JEE only twice, in consecutive years.

HI,
Yes you can apply after Diploma course for admissions in I.I.T.
But your diploma course is approve by A.I.C.T.E.

I.I-J.E.E exam is conducted by I.I.T once in a year.

It is a national level exam.

Eligibility criteria:-
> Pass 12th with Physics, chemistry and maths with minimum 60% marks.
For ST/SC You have to score 55% marks.
> Must be above 17 year and below 25 year.
> Must be citizen of India.

Diploma students can not get admission in IIT.

JEE stands for Joint Entrance Examination
&
IIT stands for Indian Institute of Technology

For JEE exam candidate must completed 10+2 with PCM.

Eligibility for JEE:
> Pass 12th with Physics, chemistry and maths
with minimum 60% marks.
For ST/SC You have to score 55% marks.
> Must be above 17 year and below 25 year.
> Must be citizen of India.

After diploma you are eligible for B.Tech lateral entry.
