# The ultimate goal of your life is to become an IAS officer.

# Now you have completed 10+2 and want to do graduation either in B.Sc or in B.Tech.

# You should opt only that stream/discipline in which you are convenient and better grasping power which subsequently will help you in better preparation of IAS Examination.

# Actually, both B.Sc and B. Tech are of equal importance. They are equally rated and have equal career prospects, job prospects etc.

# But as per my personal point of view, B.Tech degree has little bit edge over B.Sc. As B.Tech degree holder has the better opportunity in applying for Naval Academy (NA) or Flying Branch in Air Force through Combined Defence Service (CDS) Examination.

# Moreover, B.Tech degree holder has ample job opportunities in public as well as private sector.

Hi shweta,

With regards to your query on becoming an IAS officer, the course you choose will have little to no impact. In order to become an IAS officer, you have to clear the UPSC held Civil Services exam.

However, getting into the IAS is not that easy. It is a very competitive one year long exam. Even if you clear the exam, then you have to get a very good score to qualify for the IAS! Keeping this in mind, i would suggest a B.Sc course to you as:
1. It is a 3 year course v/s 4 years of B.Tech
2. B.Tech is vast and involves advanced scientific applications to solve real world problems.
3.You will get more free time to prepare for the civil services exam while doing B.Sc.

Regarding NIT, the admission will be done on the basis of your JEE(Main) and advanced score and your board exam marks will not get you admission in any NIT.

Hope this helps. Let me know if you have more questions.

AS you have scored good marks in +2 i.e 78.4% you can go any course as your wish but if you are interested to became a IAS officer then it will be good if you will go with B.sc .

But there is no such thing that B.tech Degree holder can not go for IAS they can also appear . IAS exam is conducted through UPSC for this the candidates have to appear Civil Service Exam .

The eligibility criteria are as follows:

The candidates should be a graduate in any discipline from a recognize university.
The candidates should be a age limit is 20 - 30 years.
The candidates should be a citizen of India.

>> First of all you need to know about the eligibility criteria for the IPS(IAS) exam. This will clear most of your doubts.

1) Graduate.
2) Minimum age should be at least 21 years.

>> Now since you have just passed your intermediate so you have to do graduation in any of the discipline, then only you will be eligible to apply for the examination.

>> So you have a sufficient amount of time for your preparation.
For now, my advise would be that, you stay up to date with the social events and make an habit of reading newspapers and news. Discuss different sort of facts with your friends, this will help you to retain what you have read.

>>Regarding the course, if you are totally devoted towards IAS, then take any B.sc Course.

>>But if you have some doubt that whether you will be able to crack the exam or not, then try to go for courses like B.tech after which the chances for jobs are much more than the B.sc Course.

B.Sc is Basic science,Broad and theoretical. B.Sc means Bachelor of Science. It is three year course. In B.Sc, Contents are general with no specific changes for selecting a specialisation. After B.Sc you can do only M.Sc, MBA for specialisation. B.Sc is a graduate degree.

B.Tech is Applied science.B.tech means Bachelor of Technology. Btech is a professional(Engineering) graduate degree. It's based on technical/technological content. It is four year course. After B.Tech you can do M.Tech, M.E, MBA for specialisation. It’s designed on individual field of engineering.

So B.tech is the better option. After completing B.tech you can make good carrer. So you should go with b.tech rather than B.Sc. There are many carrer option for B.tech fresher in various companies like-
HCL
WIPRO
TCS
INFOSYS
ACCENTURE
BIRLASOFT
CAPGEMIN I
GRAPECITY
HP
IBM.

In order to get admission in National Institute of Technology for Bachelor of technology, you must have scored well in Joint Entrance exam Mains. Here you have mentioned your 10+2 percentage of marks but you have not mentioned your JEE Mains rank, so we can not tell you whether you will get admission in NIT or not.

Second thing, for becoming an Indian Administrative Services officer, you just need bachelor's degree to be eligible for Civil Services examination which is the entrance exam for IAS conducted by UPSC.

So it does not matter whether you have done B.Tech or B.SC, you need to have a bachelor's degree from a recognized university.

Honest and frankly speaking, doing Bachelor of technology nowadays from a private engineering college is almost equivalent to bachelor's degree in science from a good institute. You will have to give four years in B.Tech whereas three years for B.Sc.

So if you are getting any government college for B.Tech then you can go for it otherwise I would suggest you to go for B.Sc.

If you have set your career goal to appear for Civil Services after bachelor's degree then start your preparation right from first year.

Starting reading NCERT books of science and social science, newspapers, work on aptitude and general English. It is a tough exam so you need to be hard working.

You have good marks and you can be an engineer. Hence you can do B.Tech. You want to be an IAS officer. To be an IAS officer you need to clear your civil service exams. And the minimum qualification required is a degree. So you can simply do B.Sc too.
Your marks are good. To get into NIT you may have to write the entrance exam so apply for it. Till you get a ranking you may never know.
