Yes, you are eligible to appear in JEE Main 2017 examination even if you have scored 72.2% aggregate marks in your 12th standard examinations from a Government recognised board. Candidates who have passed 12th standard with PCM stream from a Government recognised board are eligible to appear in JEE Main examination.

To be eligible to appear in JEE Advanced 2017 examination, you should have qualified and secured top 2,00,000 rank in JEE Main 2017 examination. You need to have at least 75% (70% for SC/ ST) aggregate marks in 12th standard or you must be in top 20 percentile high scorers of your 12th standard board examinations to be eligible to appear in JEE Advanced 2017 examination.

If you want to know eligibility to appear for JEE Main 2017 then you are eligible to appear for examination.

But, to appear for Advanced stage of examination you have to fulfill the two criteria :-

* Qualify in Main examination.

* Aggregate in board examination is among the top 20 percentile of your respective board.

Since, you have secured 72.2% marks in your 12th standard from a recognised board, you are eligible to appear in JEE 2017 examination.
