Right now I am in SYbcom and i will b appearing fir my TYbcom(graduation) in 2014 march. Am i eligible for appearing the prelim exam of IAS in may 2014? Also i am pursuing CA along with graduation..... if yes please suggest the study course (books to b referred)

YES, you would be eligible to give the UPSC Civil Services Prelims Exams in the Year 2014
Prelims exams are normally held in the month of MAY each year

Educational Qualifications= Graduation pass in any Stream
Final year appearing student can also apply

AGE- Minimum 21 years
Maximum 30 years
Candidates belonging to OBC gets 3 years and SC/ST gets 5 years age relaxations

Chances- General candidates- 4 times
OBC- 7 times
SC/ST- No such restriction

Scheme of examination:
PRELIMINARY EXAMS
PAPER 1- Current events, History of India,Indian National Movement, India and World Geography, Indian polity and governance
General science, Economic and social development,General issues on environmental

PAPER 2- Comprehension, Basic numeracy, General mental Ability,Logical Reasoning, English Language Comprehension
