Re: Am I eligible for IAS exam after passing B.Com honors final year?
Dear Friend
Those who have done Graduation (or equivalent) in any stream from a Govt. of India Recognized university, are eligible for IAS(Civil Services) examination. The term 'Govt. of India recognized' means that your college/university should be approved by some Govt. body(eg. University Grants Commission) for conduction of various course. If your college is having such an affiliation(almost all universities do possess such approval) then you are eligible for the exam. You can apply next year for the exam. visit: www.upsc.gov.in |

Yes you are eligible for IAS exam after your B.com honors.
The eligibility criteria requires you to be a graduate from any stream from a recognized board or university. This is not a concern for you now. But as you have not specified your age i have assumed it to be somewhere between 21 to 30 years, as this is the age limit required to be eligible if you come in general category but for obc it is 21 to 33 and for sc/st it is 21 to 35. Hope this helps.. |

IAS stands for Indian Administrative Services. This exam is conducted by the Union Public Service Commission. Apart from IAS there are two other civil service examination which UPSC conducts and they are Indian Foreign Service and Indian Police Service. To give this examination firstly, you need to be a citizen of India. Secondly, this exam is only for the graduates. So if you possess a bachelor's degree in any discipline of your choice then you are eligible to sit for the IAS Exam. If you are in the final year of your degree course then also you can apply for the preliminary exam. However if you get selected to give the Main exam then you will have to show your mark sheets then. So since you are in the final year therefore even now you can give this exam. Your age should not be less than 21 years old when applying for this exam. This is binding on all categories. The upper age limit for the general category candidates is 30 years. The Civil Services Examination is conducted in 3 stages. They are as follows:-
For the preliminary exam there will be two papers and mainly objective questions will come in this exam. 200 marks have been allotted for each paper. You will be given two hours to complete the whole paper. The preliminary exam basically is like a screen test which helps in shortlisting candidates for the main examination so its marks are not added with the main exam marks and interview session marks. Main Exam Pattern At A Glance:-
