Yes definitely being a private candidate you can definitely appear in JEE advanced in 2018 if you will qualify JEE mains exam. If you have passed your 12th standard being a private student it does not matter that you are not eligible for JEE mains and advanced exam.
So start your preparation, you are eligible.

JEE refers to Joint Entrance Examination and same is a national level engineering entrance examination which is held once every year by CBSE for admission in premier technical colleges of India including CFTIs like IIT, NIT and other top private engineering colleges.

The examination is held in two stages which includes JEE Main followed by JEE Advanced.

The maximum attempt allowed for appearing in JEE Main is three where as in case of JEE Advanced is two. Here the attempts must be successive including the one of that year in which student has appeared in his/her Class 12th board examination for the first time.

So as you have mentioned that for the first time you appeared in your Class 12th board examination in 2016 so you are not eligible for appearing in JEE Advanced 2018 as for JEE Advanced 2018 only those students are eligible who are going to appear in their Class 12th board examination in 2018 or have appeared in 2017 not before.

For more FAQs related to JEE Main you can refer to the link www.jeemain.nic.in where as for FAQs related to JEE Advanced you can log on to the link www.jeeadv.nic.in.

The base year for calculation of number of attempts for Joint Entrance Examination Advanced stage will be one in which you have passed 10+2 from any recognized board.

As you have appeared for board examination in 2017, you can apply for JEE Main in 2017, 2018 and 2019 and JEE Advanced in 2017 and 2018.

You can apply for JEE Main and Advanced in 2018.

First thing I would like to let you know that for appearing in JEE for admission government funded technical institutes such as IIT, NIT, ISM, etc. you need to have completed your Class 12th with PCM group with at least 75% aggregate from a recognized board of examination. Marks relaxation of 10% is applicable for SC/ST and PWD category candidates as per the government norms. Students failing to secure above mentioned percentage aggregate but managing to lie within the top 20 percentile candidates of their respective board of examination on the basis of marks secured in Class 12th are also eligible.

Also I would like to let you know that maximum attempt allowed for appearing in JEE Advanced is two which includes the year in which student has appeared in his board examination and the JEE Advanced held in following year which means for appearing in JEE Advanced 2018 only those candidates are eligible who are either going to appear in their Class 12th board examination in 2018 or have appeared in the same in 2017.

So having appeared in Class 12th board examination in 2016 for the first time you are not eligible for appearing in JEE Advanced 2018 as per the above mentioned criteria but you can apply for JEE Main for which the maximum attempt allowed is three.

For more details regarding JEE Advanced you can refer to the link www.jeeadv.nic.in.

No, you are not eligible to appear for JEE Advanced examination in 2017.

JEE Advanced examination is 2nd stage of JEE and candidates are eligible to appear for examination only after qualifying in Main stage.

There is only two attempts for Advanced stage and candidates appeared for 12th in 2016 ( weather passed or failed ) are not eligible to appear for Advanced in 2018.

For details or notification regarding JEE visit at www.jeemain.nic.in.

Yes, of course you can appear for JEE advanced if you have completed 12th from a recognized board in PCM group as a private candidate. There should not be any problem if you have completed 12th as a private candidate. Thanks

So you want to know about thethe eligibility for JEE Advanced 2018 if passed 12th as a private candidate in 2017.

For this, you must have to know that there is not any issue related to private candidate passed in 12th.
So they are eligible to give the JEE exam. But the stream should be science in 12th class.

The notification for 2018 JEE examination is not released now. But as per notification for 2017 examination the eligibility to appear for Advanced examination is :-

Candidate must have qualified in Main examination ( same year ).

Candidate must have scored aggregate in board examination which is in top 20 percentile.

12th appearing candidates are eligible to appear for examination.

So, for 2018 examination only those candidates who have appeared for 12th in 2018 or passed in 2017 are eligible.

Candidates appeared for board examination in 2016 but passed in 2017 are not eligible to appear for examination in 2018.
