Yes, you can attend for the IIT advanced exam. Private candidates can also apply and attend for the IIT exam. The eligibility criteria for IIT exam is mentioned below.
Eligibility criteria: - You need have Aadhar card with full name, date of birth and address that should match with the 10th and 12th certificate. - The upper age limit is 25 years for general and OBC candidates, for SC/ ST/ PwD the age limit is 30. - The candidate should complete their 10+2 education with physics, maths, chemistry with minimum 75% from recognized board, for SC/ ST/ PwD the percentage required to apply for IIT is 65%. - There is no weightage system but the marks required in 10+2 is to qualify for the admission in IIT, NIIT, IIIT etc. - For IIT entrance exam 2018 the candidates have to complete their 10+2 education in 2015, 2016, 2017, otherwise the candidates are not eligible to write the exam. - There are 3 attempts to complete 10+2 education. |

Eligibility to appear in JEE Mains and Advanced:
Aspirants must have completed 10 + 2 from a recognised board with minimum 50% marks. If you have completed your 10th standard from private then also you are eligible if your certificate in is recognised. To become eligible for IIT advanced you have to qualify JEE Mains. Re: Eligibility for a private candidate appear in IIT Advanced 2018?
IIT refers to Indian Institute of Technology and for getting admission in B.Tech / B.E. degree course in same college you need to qualify JEE ( Joint Entrance Examination ) held by CBSE.
Now as far as you are concerned about your possibility for appearing in JEE Advanced 2018 having appeared in Class 12th board examination in 2016 for the first time then I would like to let you know that you are not eligible as for appearing in JEE Advanced 2018 one must have appeared in Class 12th board examination in 2017 or going to appear in Class 12th board examination in 2018. For more FAQs concerning to JEE Advanced you can refer to the link www.jeeadv.nic.in. |

Re: Eligibility for a private candidate appear in IIT Advanced 2018?
JEE is conducted in two stages as :-
Main - 3 attempts. Advanced -2 attempts. The number of attempts will be counted while appearing for 12th board examination as first attempts. Since, you have appeared for 12th in 2016 you are not eligible for Advanced in 2018. |

It does not matter weather you have passed or failed in 12th examination that year will be counted as your first chance to appear for JEE conducted by CBSE and IIT.
So, you are not eligible to appear for JEE Advanced in 2018 but eligible for Main examination ( last attempt ). To get any more information about examination visit at www.jeemain.nic.in. |
