Re: Am i eligible for NET, SET exam after completing B.A and M.A English from IGNOU
If you have completed M.A. English with 55% marks from IGNOU then you will be eligible to appear for UGC NET.
For SC/ST there is relaxation in marks and they need only 50% marks for UGC NET. IGNOU is a recognized Distance Education University and a Degree from it is at par with any other University of the country. So don't worry and apply for UGC NET if you have the required percentage. Exam Pattern: There will be 3 papers for UGC NET and there will be no negative marking in UGC NET. Paper I : It is common for all and will have 60 questions. You have to attempt any 50 questions. It is basically a aptitude test. It will carry 100 marks. Paper II: It will have 50 questions related to your specialisation and you have to attempt all the questions. This paper will carry 100 marks. Paper III: This paper will have 75 questions and will carry 150 marks. The questions will be related to your subject. Re: Am i eligible for NET, SET exam after completing B.A and M.A English from IGNOU
That is going to be no problem at all. Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) is a recognized college which means that degree from this college will be accepted for the National Eligibility Test.
The problem only occurs if your college is not recognized by the University Grants Commission which is acutally responsible for conducting the National Eligibility Test. Another big concern you seems to have is with distance education degree. But that is also not an issue. University Grants Commission do not diffierentciate between regular or correspondence degree. Therefore you can apply for the National Eligibility Test provided you can meet the criteria for this exam. National Eligibility Test is for lectureship and Junior Research Fellowship. It is conducted in June and December. To apply for the National Eligibility Test, you must be meeting the following criteria. Please remember that the criteria for NET and SET exam are the same. NET Eligibility 1. You should be Indian citizen to apply for NET. 2. You should have completed post graduation. 3. It is possible to apply during final year of post graduation. 4. Final year candidates will need to submit degree in 2 years of clearing NET. 5. The marks required in post graduation is 55%. 6. 5% relaxation for SC and ST. 7. No relaxation is given to OBC. 8. The subject for NET will be English in your case. 9. You should be 19 to 28 years to apply for JRF. 10. Upper age limit is relaxed for OBC by 3 years in JRF. 11. There is 5 years relaxation for SC/ST. 12. No upper age limit for college lectureship for General/OBC/SC/ST/PWD. 13. There is also no limit on attempts for all candidates. |

Re: Am i eligible for NET, SET exam after completing B.A and M.A English from IGNOU
Dear Friend,
The Acronym "NET" stands for National Eligibility Test and "SET" stands for State Eligibility Test. Both these tests are conducted for the selection of candidates for the following posts : * Lecturership * Junior Research Fellowship The National Eligibility Test is conducted nationally by the University Grants Commission whereas the State Eligibility Test is conducted by the respective state governments. As you have completed M.A. in English from IGNOU, there will be no problem in your eligibility if you have secured a minimum of 55% marks in M.A. considering that you belong to general Category. This is because the University Grants Commission has stated that any candidate who holds a Master`s Degree in any stream from any UGC recognized university with the required % of marks is eligible to apply for the National Eligibility Test. And as per my knowledge the Indira Gandhi National Open University [IGNOU] is recognized by the University Grants Commission. So , the thing that you have to take care is whether you have secured 55% marks in Post Graduation or not , if yes then you can apply for the same. The Other Requisites for National Eligibility Test are : * A Relaxation of 5% marks is given to SC/ST Candidates. * Candidates pursuing final year of post graduation can also apply. * There is no age limit for the lecturer post. * Those candidates who are applying for the JRF post have to maintain the age limit which is - 21-28 years for General Candidates. * Relaxation of 3 years is given to OBC Candidates. * SC/ST Candidates get a relaxation of 5 years in upper age. * Also there is no fixed no. of attempts for the NET/SET. This is the information i have to the best of my knowledge regarding your query. Hope the information will help yu to the extent you want. |
