IAS officer :- The person who is qualified to become a Civil Servant is given a good position and powers. for these services like IAS/IPS/IFS and the other 23 services a exam is conducted which is a common exam for recruitment into all services. the exam is named as Civil Service Examination. this exam is conducted by UPSC. UPSC is a government body which will recruit the qualified personnels into the responsible services. for this exam all the graduates who have 21 years of age are eligible to appear. yeah as a CSE or IT student you are also eligible for the examination. But the only problem is that in the optional subjects you will not find a subject which is related to your engineering . as Electrical ,Mechanical,Civils engineering students can directly select a optional of their education background but you can't select them or succeed in them after selecting the same. So you have to select the subject which is un related to your engineering background. that is the only drawback except that everything will be fine if you enroll for Civil service exam. There are many success stories of the Computer science engineers in IAS entrance exam. so don't at all worry for your background. there is no importance to that all you need to have is the attitude to develop the country with your own hands as a law maker. all the best for your preparation Regards ~AdityA~ |

Re: Any scope in IAS for IT and CSE engineers?
Hello Komal,
The civil service exam, which is conducted for recruitment of IAS officers along with IPS and IFS officers, is not restricted for candidates belonging to a particular stream but can be written by any graduate within the age limit of 21-30 years. The maximum age limit is however, relaxed upto 3 years for OBC and 5 years for SC/ST category. Since the first stage of written exam comprise of two compulsory papers, candidates belonging to any stream, has to write those. The first stage which is known as civil service aptitude test is based on general studies, Comprehension, interpersonal skill, logical reasoning and analytical ability, Decision making and problem solving, General mental ability, basic numeracy etc. In the main exam, apart from the compulsory subjects, you will have the option to select any two optional papers but unfortunately, subjects like IT and CSE are included in it, therefore you will have choose other subjects as your optional papers. |
