i m in 1st yr taking mech. branch in an central gov. college.i want to know how to prepare for gate &ias exam.plzz tell me the books,magazine etc. names for preparation for that.

GATE gives you eligibility for M.Tech. This exam is purely on the basis of your subject knowledge in engineering.

Where as IAS procedure will be by
1)CSAT - Civil Services Aptitude test
2)Main examination
3)Interview

CSAT exam focuses on aptitude and General knowledge. So focus on these areas if you want to crack IAS.

R.S.Agarwal is the good book to prepare for Aptitude.

For to crack GATE, you have plenty of books available in the market.
Previous papers is one of the good source.
GATE questions and answers books are also good choice.

Tips to prepare for GATE & IAS Exam as follows...


-> Practice questions daily by spending some valuable time for preparation...


-> Refer previous year question papers and find out the question pattern and prepare for the exam accordingly.


-> Refer the recommended books and prepare well to score good marks..

GATE and IAS , both are different field, choose anyone, as both of them are very tough, you cannt do both, either take some Councillors advice.

GATE and IAS both are completely different..

GATE is a entrance test for masters program ..

whereas

IAS is an entrance test for a Unique and well reputed job ..i.e. a very famous civil service in the country and its highly popular for its power and status..

preparation for both is impossible...

and

you should first know for which thing you are applying for ..

i.e..,

GATE or IAS

accordingly you should decide which plan to follow..

but both require vigorous preparation..

2:Then try to collect the base or main material of any subject.
