Re: Can I give IAS exam with CSE branch?
Hello Neha...
I got the point u wanna ask....see evry graduated person is eligible for IAS but problem comes with the optional subjects....if u have done engineering from eee or ece etc u can choose any of these subjects as optionals of 1200 marks...since for qualifying the mains u must have an indepth knowledge of the subjects u have opted for...so generally we opt those subjects in which we have done our graduation but Unfortunately...CSE subjects are not available in the optional subjects list so cs students have to choose some other subjects and have to study in depth those subjects which requires hard work and will power......so it's not that u r not eligible....u would be eligible once u hav done with ur graduation but the problem cums which optional subjects to choose! Last Date for Receipt of Application: 05.03.2012 You can get more info on www.upsconline.nic.in Hope the info is to the point, useful n helpful! |

Re: Can I give IAS exam with CSE branch?
Of course you can apply for the Indian Administrative Service. The requirement clearly says that candidate with any graduation degree can apply for it. Since you are Engineering student, that also makes you eligible for the Indian Administrative Service.
However you must complete Bachelor of Technology course in order to apply for the Indian Administrative Service. Start the preparation as early as fourth year of the engineering course. It is important to understand that IAS is a very competitive entrance exam. More than 10 Lakh students appear for it every year while only 300 odd are selected. You will have to study extremely hard to make the cut. For optional subjects you should choose subjects that are either related to your course, or the ones you find easy. Subjects should be such that you would be able to obtain high marks. Some candidates select subjects like History or Geography in the preliminary exam, just to make the cut for the Main examination. Eligibility 1. You should be a citizen of India. 2. A graduation degree is required to appear for IAS. 3. There is no percentage criteria. 4. Age limit is 21 to 30 years for IAS. 5. There is 3 years relaxation for OBC. 6. SC/ST are given 5 years relaxation in upper age limit. Exam Pattern 1) Preliminary Exam 2) Main Exam 3) Interview |

Re: Can I give IAS exam with CSE branch?
Yes. You are eligible to give IAS Exam after completion of your B.Tech in CSE stream.
There is no separate IAS Exam to be placed in IAS but instead there is a single common written exam for the candidates to be placed in all the civil services like Indian Administrative Service Indian Police Service Indian Foreign Service etc. The complete selection procedure would involve Civil Services Aptitude Test Civil Services Main Exam Interview Here is the eligibility criteria required for the candidates to apply for this Exam. Candidates should have completed Graduation with any of the stream from a recognized university. Candidates who have appeared for final year exams of Graduation and waiting for the results can also apply for this Exam. The required age criteria will be 21-30 years for the candidates of General category. Relaxation in upper age limit upto 3 years for the candidates of OBC category and upto 5 years for the candidates of SC or ST category. As you are pursuing 2nd year of B.Tech course, it is the right time for you to start preparation for this Exam. There are no computers related subjects in the list of optional subjects for civil services Exam But you can choose any of the following subject for optional subject Mathematics Physics Civil Engineering Mechanical Engineering Electrical Engineering etc. Have good preparation for the Entrance Exam and crack it. Wish you all the best. |
