i have compeleted 12th in arts and now i want to do bca through smu
can i get admission for bca?

Yes you can do BCA after 12th in Arts, but there is a problem you must have a maths subject in 12th. if you study with maths then this is possible for you.
Maths is the key subject in the field of computation, so without mathematics this is not possible for you...

Yes you can do BCA through SMU..

But there will problems in your higher studies in future...

To pursue MCA, most institutes require candidates to have maths as a main subject in their 10(+2)..

So i can't assure you to go further with this field but if you have strong determination to go for this career you can pursue MCA from some open universities where they won't require maths in 10(+2)..

why you are doing bca through distance education.
if you don't have time.


if you don't have time then you can also go for another institution.


but if you are looking for admission in smu. then you can take.
after bca you shoul do mater degree with computer application that will improve your jobs option .

Because a student from +2 in science can get admission in BCA easily.

yes you can take admission in bca after doing 12th in arts but then you will face one problem. In bca there is maths as compulsory subject. So you will have to take tution to cope with the situation.

according to me after 12th(in arts) you should not select BCA if you have not MATH as additional subject.
if you have no MATH,then you may much problems.
you may take admission in BBA in Human Resource(HR)department,
or fashion designing etc....

Sorry to say that you are not eligible to BCA.

For BCA maths is compulsory subject, if you dont have maths in your 12th exams, then you are not eligible to do this course.

Beacuse Maths is compulsory for BCA. Without Maths knowledge, you can't handle this course.

So, according to my knowledge, 12th Arts student are not eligible for BCA courses.

So, please try some other courses, there are manny courses availiable for Arts students.

You are eligible for BCA course but some university or institute want math in 12th. and i think you will have to face some problem due to lack of knowledhe in mathematics. I want to suggest you
you need to join private coaching centre of computer to gain knowledge.

HELLO,remember one thing in your life if you have strong strong desire & will to achieve your aim then no carrier can stop you to get your goal.you have asked about admission in smu,so if you have decided to opt for bca then go for it there is no restrictions to any stream student to chose bca.but you have pay more attention on some selected subjects in bca.you have to give extra time for mathematical calculations in the subject.if you are deciding to do mca after bca.now it's compulsary that one must have maths background in class 12th, then you have to give 12th maths paper,& attach the marksheet alongwith your 12th(arts) marksheet.and you can chose your carrier via mca.

Admission in BCA after 12th (Arts)

Math subject is compulsory for the admission in the BCA course. If you completed 12th Arts stream then you are not eligible because
you have not taken math subject in the 12th std. either math or computer
science is the compulsory for the admission in the BCA course. So i
advise you to go for the another courses.

Yes you can do...you need to first BCA and then MCA....MCA is good course and the job placement is also good after MCA...so first go for BCA and then MCA.....

Yes surely you can do BCA after 12 arts.

Mathematics is not mandatory subject for BCA. You can pursue BCA if you have scored a minimum of 50% in your 10+2.

A student of any stream can pursue BCA.

Mathematics becomes mandatory when you want to do MCA without BCA at graduation level.

So you are eligible to pursue BCA, all the best.

you are not eligible for that but do not worry some institute give computer
course degree like NIIT,IIHT,GNIT,IIJT ..

Ya ,you can join bca in any college. The basic eligibility is you have to pass 12th only and you apply a seat.

BCA is the Bachelor of Computer Application course. Its a 3 year long full time graduation course.
It has various types of computer operations, various programming languages like C, C++, JAVA etc...

The Basic Criteria to study BCA is :


1. You should be a minimum 12th pass from a recognized school or board with a minimum 50% aggregate in it.

2. You should have studied Mathematics as a compulsory subject if you want to take up BCA as your graduation.


>>> But as you say, that you have done your 12th in ARTS side, I am really sorry but if you have not studied Mathematics as one of your major subjects in Class 12th HS, then you will not be allowed to study BCA in any college.


** It would be advisable that you take up some short term maths course which is certified, or you look for career options in the Arts stream.

u didnt think it that u cant do bca after 12th because u had no subject of mathematics.
U will have to try for admission in any open universities or any institute who provide Bca classes as a degree program.
