I think Indian Engineering Service exam is best for you, because you have complete Civil course which is part of Engineering,so this exam will not be difficult to crack.

dear friend,IAS and IES both examination preferred for Civil engineers.
but generally IES exam only conducted for engineer so my first choice should be IES exam for you because exam pattern totally prepared for ENGINEERS. and syllabus and competition only our group.but IAS is wide exam and every person who are degree holder with any stream and age should be 21 to 30 with age relaxation can apply. so competition very tough.
so i want to choose firstly you apply for IES before IAS.
IN 2012 UPSE conduct IES exam :
date of notification : 25feb 2012
last date for application : 26 march 2012
exam date :15 jun 2012
for more detail log on to www.upse.gov.in
UPSE CIVIL SERVICE EXAM DATE
DATE OF NOTIFICATION : 4 FEB 2012
LAST DATE : 5 MARCH 2012
EXAM DATE : 20 MAY 2012.
and if you want to apply both so something same but something different.
all the best

hy.
. Engineering and computer, civil students can opt for geography will be easier for science students for UPSC. If you do good map reading , you can score really well. Then there are some areas in geography , which will be useful for general studies also. The other subject may be sociology/psychology/public administration. To select the option. please go through the detailed syllabus and old questions. that will give an idea to select on appropriate optional.
best of luck

I would suggest you to go for the Indian Engineering Service as the competition in IAS will be really very high because graduates from almost all the streams can apply for the IAS exams..

but in case of IES..only engineers can apply that too from the following branches
Civil Engineering
Mechanical Engineering
Electronics and Communications Engineering
Electrical Engineering

So,your probability of a getting a seat is much higher in IES

all the best..

~Hope this helps.. ~

With Warm Regards

well,
IES
IES is an UPSC examination that recruits people for the post as engineers. with that you can get placed in a public sector job that would in turn provide you with life-time security. The post of engineer gives you enough cash to lead a happy life, also it is a respected post.additionally you are having a job in a field that you studied.

IAS
on the other hand IAS is something that gives you POWER, money, respect.Power is not something you can get through all jobs. IAS recruits for the post of District collector (you have levels in b/w as assistant, trainee collector ). It is a more like a social job, helping the society to come up, paving the way for economic development, improving the living condition of the people etc..
It is really meant for someone who has an inclination towards the society. plus, it is an exam for which you need serious preparation. you have to devote all your time once you start your preparation.

On a whole, its you who have to decide.Incline towards the one in which you are more interested. All the Best !!!...

In study,to say which field is better ,this is totally depend on your knowledge about that field.you are an engineering student so you must have better knowledge and skills activity about engineering field.so you should go through IES not IAS.
GOOD LUCK

IES is better choice ...since you are eligible for this exam..and questions will be based on your civil syllabus...IAS is wider in knowledge but IES needs deeper knowledge..
you can get trained from some good institute also

you would clear in this exam easily
All the best!!

it is better to choose IES exam in camparison to IAS exam. you don't have to work on other fields to prepare as you have to do for IAS exams.

IAS stand for indian administrative services and IES stand for indian engineering services
but, you dont need to differntiate them with your graduation.
1.the basic requirment for those exam is graduation.
2.if you have select exam for you then you try IES exam.

IES is the best option for you, without any doubt.

IES is for four streams mainly, though students from other engineering branches can also apply:

Civil, Electrical, Mechanical and Electronics and Communication.

And IAS are for everyone who has completed their graduation.

So the competition would be high in case of IAS.

Whereas in case of IES you have to compete with engineering students only unlike IAS where you have to compete with all graduates in any field.

So if you are equally interested in both the exams and is confused to choose any one, then choose IES.

And if you have any liking or have personal interest in any one exam specially, then choose what your interest is.

Thats all, thanks.

HI,
You are eligible for both I.A.S and I.E.S..
So you chose what you want and what is easy for you..

Both the exam is conducted by U.P.S.C once in a year....

If you think that you can qualify the I.A.S exam then you go for I.A.S of if you can qualify the I.E.S then you go for I.E.S exam...

If you think both are easy for you then you can do what you want..

In my openion you should go for I.E.S because the completion in I.E.S is little less then I.A.S..

GOOD LUCK!
