Re: Which Books to refer other than NCERT?
You have not mentioned your stream here. Assuming that you have taken Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics in 10+2, here is list of different books which you must read along with NCERT to have better confidence and solve questions in competitions. NCERT are base books and helps in scoring good marks in board exams.
>>For Mathematics: 1. Higher Algebra by Hall and Knight. 2. Coordinate Geometry by A. Majeed. 3. Matrices by Shanti Narayan. 4. Trigonometry by SL Loney. >>For Physics, Resnick Halliday and Walker. You must also refer H.C Verma. >>For Chemistry: Morrison and Boyd for Organic Chemistry. J.D Lee for Inorganic Chemistry. You must give three hours to Mathematics and 2 and half hours each to Physics and Chemistry. |

Re: Which Books to refer other than NCERT?
NCERT book is sufficient and efficient enough to score good in board and competitive examination conducted after 10+2.
But, if you want to solve more problems to get better understandings you can go through R.C Mukherjee - Physical Chemistry. O.P Tondon - Organic Chemistry. Wresnick and Herdik Wakar - Physics Mathematics -- K.C Sinha Competitive Section. These are most famous books with very large number of solved and unsolved problems. So you can take hello of it for better preparation. |

Re: Which Books to refer other than NCERT?
-> No need of other books if you clearly understand the topics in NCERT.
Each subject consists of various topics with excellent explanation and representation too. -> For 2 students , NCERT books are more than enough . if you completed NCERT concepts thoroughly you can able to crack any type of competitive exams like JEE-mains and advanced . -> If you need more information than NCERT publications means you can search topics in Foreign universities websites . |

NCERT books are your Bible so you have to keep preparing from them for competitive as well as for your board exams. Other books which you can refer to make your concept more clear are:
HC Verma of Physics Modern ABC of chemistry Dinesh of all the subjects because very simple language has been written in these books. Pradeep's biology |

Re: Which Books to refer other than NCERT?
From my point of view, you must first complete all NCERT books of different subjects like Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics etc. This will help you to build strong basic concepts. Without basic concepts, there will be no utility of reading standard reference books. Once you have complete NCERT books, you can read reference books for more better understanding and practice purpose.
For Mathematics, R.D Sharma, Shantinaryan, J.D Lee would be helpful. In case of physics, other than NCERT, my advice will be just stick to H.C Verma and for chemistry, O.P Tandon and R.C Mukherjee would be sufficient. |

Re: Which Books to refer other than NCERT?
NCERT textbooks are a very good source and introduction to topics in IAS prelims. Little wonder then, many coaching classes and aspirants recommend NCERT textbooks to fresh aspirants who are just starting their preparation.
