hi dear
There are various ways of assuming a role in the naval chain of command. First and

foremost you are required to be a citizen of India. After completing standard 12 or junior

college you're eligible to apply to the National Defense academy with Navy as your first

option. You could alternatively select Naval Academy, Goa for the first three years of

your defense training. Both the entrances are conducted through the UPSC (Union

Public Service Commission) Examination. Thereafter you commence a three year

graduation course in fields like Physics, Chemistry and others. On completion of your

training, based on your performance you are placed into branches like Logistics,

Executive, Engineering, Aviation etc. These decide your job profile in the Indian Navy.

The Executive branch is the hottest one, reason being you get quick and easy command

of a naval vessel if you belong here. Guys who opt for the Engineering branch are sent

to INS Shivaji, Lonavala for a three year Engineering course. In any case, once you're

done with your initial three years of training you're commissioned into the Indian Navy

as a Sub Lieutenant earning a monthly wage. There also exists an entry procedure

wherein a student right after his standard 12 can opt for Engineering at INS Shivaji, in

which case he'll be required to do 4 years of engineering. During his 4th year he

becomes a commissioned officer. There are also provisions for joining the services after

having completed your graduation externally or on short service.

Thumbs up Re: Can I join Indian Navy after passing commerce? Procedure to join it?

To join in Indian Navy you must have clear an exam called NDA or CDS. To be eligible for writing one of this exam you must have completed a graduation.

To become an army your graduation in any discipline is just enough but for joining in Navy or Air force you must be science student in 11th std and 12th std. So you can't join in Navy. If you surely want to join in defense side you can become an army of India.

Hey friend,

It is good that you have finished your +2 as you can get into Indian navy through NDA exam as it is the only option.

For getting into NDA exam you must satisfy certain criteria's and they may include:

The candidate must be a citizen of India and he must only be a unmarried male candidate.

The candidates must have age limit of 16 1/2-19 years and that the candidates must have finished their +2 from a recognized board with physics and mathematics as subjects for Indian Navy.

The main criteria is that the candidates must be physically fit while appearing for the exam.

Check whether you satisfy all criteria's.

For more information you can get at the official site of UPSC at http://www.upsc.gov.in

Thank you.

You are not eligible to apply for the Indian Navy. Because you can only apply for the MATRIC RECRUIT and MUSICIANS entry scheme but in both the entry scheme the candidate age should be between 17 to 21 years.

So you are not eligible to apply for the Indian Navy because you are over age and thats why you are not eligible to apply for the above entry scheme.
All the best.

I am studying in B.Com (first year) and am 18 years old. I am extremely fit person as I am swimmer who has reached the national level and won medals too (inter-school and age group). I am sincere in swimming. I have taken NCC (Navy) in my college and also attended and successfully completed Scuba Diving Camp and sailing camp in Mumbai. I want to join Indian Navy where I hope I will get enough encouragement to pursue my swimming career and I will be able to give my best performance in my sports and thereby serve my country. Can I get opportunity to join Navy from sports quota, get guidance and training from the best coaches ?
