Re: Can an electronics engineer become an IAS officer?
Certainly an engineer can apply for Indian Administrative Service. Having B.Tech degree would neither improve or harm your chances, therefore you will have same chance as anyone else to clear the exam.
It would take a lot of hard work to clear Indian Administrative Service entrance exam. Please remember that over 10 Lakh students apply for IAS every year while merely 300 are selected. It is definitely one of the most competitive entrance exams in the country. You can read NCERT books for Class 12th to prepare for the General studies paper. There will be total of 3 papers on general studies. One would be in preliminary and 2 in main exam. Apart from that watch a lot of news to be prepared for general knowledge. For optional subjects it is often recommended to choose subjects related to your course. However only if you stand a good chance of doing well in these subjects. Otherwise any subject which you think is easy for you would be good. IAS Eligibility 1. The candidate should be of Indian origin. 2. Any candidate with bachelor degree can apply. 3. There is no percentage criteria. Age Limit 1. General - 21 to 30 years. 2. OBC - 21 to 33 years. 3. SC/ST - 21 to 35 years. Selection Procedure 1) Preliminary Exam (2 written tests) 2) Main Exam (9 written tests) 3) Personal Interview |
