National Defense Academy only considers male candidates. No matter which stream you belong to, being a girl candidate, you won't be considered eligible for National Defense Academy. However, proposal has been made regarding admission of girl candidates into National Defense Academy but is yet to be approved by the government of India and till than, a girl candidate may join Officers Training Academy for necessary training to get into the defense forces of India and to do so, you must possess a bachelors degree, most preferably with Physics and Mathematics in the higher secondary level.

NDA stands for National Defence Academy and this examination is conducted by UPSC Twice in a year for the Recruitment of Army, Naval and Air Force Wings .

If you have completed 12th standard from science background then you are applicable for all post conducted by NDA .But commerce and Arts stream are applicable only Indian army post.Final year of 12th standard candidate are also applicable.

Your age should be in between 16.5 to 19 years old.You must be unmarried male candidate and you have citizenship of India.

Physical Standard for NDA:





From my point of view , You can go for Graduation degree first .If you are really interested in defence sector then you can apply CDS exam after graduation because Girls are applicable for CDS exam.

girls are however allowed for the OTA examination through CDS-I,II examination held twice in a year

whose eligibility are

-> age within 18-25 years
-> university graduate from any stream.

NDA(National Defence Academy) is conducted two times every year i.e

• NDA-I
• NDA-II

This exam is conducted by the UPSC(Union Public Service Commission).

NDA has three wings:
Indian army,
Indian airforce,
Indian navy.

Educational qualification:
12th standard from a recognised state or central board.
Percentage is not required for this exam.
For airforce and navy wings you must have PCM subjects in 12th standard.

Age criteria:
Age limits is 16.5 years to 19 years.
There is no relaxation for OBC and SC/ST candidates.

Female candidate is not eligible to apply for NDA as per notification as NDA(National Defence Academy) conducted by UPSC is only meant for male candidate for entry in to Indian Army, Navy and Air Force wing of NDA.

Apart from this eligibility the candidate must be an unmarried Indian having either appear for the final 12th exam or pass in any stream from a recognised Board within the age of 16.5 to 19 years. The candidate should have possessed good Physical Fitness.

Being a Female candidate if you are interested for Defence Services, you can apply for Officer"s Training Academy through appearing CDS(Combined Defence Service) exam after Graduation in any stream.

you can Join Indian defense forces by giving Combined defense Services Examination or AFCAT Exam and Not NDA exam.

Information about NDA exam:

N.D.A exam is conducted by Union public service commission twice every year as NDA -1 and NDA-2 for recruitment in the three defense services of Indian Army namely:
>>Indian Army
>>Indian Navy
>>Indian Air force


Educational Qualifications required for NDA exam

#you should be having Physics,chemistry,mathematics to apply in all the three branches namely Army,Navy Air force.
#you should have passed the intermediate from a recognized school of a board.
#the age required to appear for this between 16.5 to 19 years,including the limiting dates
#if you are having non science (P.C.M) branch in XII then can apply only for army academy.
#only unmarried male candidates can apply for this exam.

hence you being a girl candidate are not Eligible to apply for NDA exam

But if you really want to join Indian Defense Services you have a choice called C.D.S exam which is also conducted By U.P.S.C twice every year.But you can apply only for Officers training academy.

Officers Training Academy (S.S.C Women Non-Technical Course): Unmarried Women, issue less widows who have not remarried and issue less divorcees (in possession of divorce documents) who have not remarried are eligible.
