Yes. You are eligible to appear for IAS Exam since you have been fulfilling all the required eligibility criteria for IAS Exam.

There is no separate Entrance Exam to be an IAS Officer. But instead, you have to go through the civil services examination which is being conducted by UPSC (Union Public Service Commission) to become an IAS.

The selection procedure to become an IAS is by
-CSAT (Civil Services Aptitude Test)
-Civil Services Main Examination
-Interview

In order to be eligible for CSAT Exam, one should have completed Graduation with any of the stream from a recognized university. There is no percentage criteria at all in order to be eligible for this examination.

One should be in the age group of 21-30 years to be eligible for this examination. Relaxation is there in upper age limit for the candidates of OBC and SC/ST category.

As you have secured 2nd class in Engineering and you are at the age of 24 years, you can attempt this exam.

The upcoming CSAT Exam is going to be conducted on 20-05-2012. If you are interested, you can appear for this examination by having good preparation to the exam.

For more information on this exam, you can visit the official website of UPSC. Here it is,

Dear Friend,

You have every chance to apply for the IAS. The examination for the post of IAS is conducted by the UPSC in the form of Civil Service Examination.
The eligibility criteria for the examination is as under :-
  • The candidate should be a graduate from a recognized institute.
  • The age of the candidate should be between 21` years to 30 years.
The marks in graduation will not matter in the civil Service Examination.

So you don't need to worry. As you have passed B.Tech course and your age is 24 years so you are quite eligible to apply for the examination.

Best Wishes.....
