i m suffering from stammering since from childhood. but my physical standrds are very good to cope for IPS post. can i become an IPS officer behind this problem

Hi Rohan.!!

After doing a long research about your issue. I found mixed results.
Anyways, Here's my report.

IPS :Indian Police Service

The service what you are aspiring for is really a good one which has a lot of powers and also which is dealt with Pickpocketers,Land Grabbers, Rowdi Sheeters,Gangsters, Cheaters etc.,

where you need your mouth a lot. It may technically not a problem for you but in practice when comes to reality it will not look nice if you have a problem like stammering. You may be hurted by the society and also some of your department mates.

This will be a psychological effect on your mind.
As I have read a post in that they have mentioned only the physical criteria about
Height,
Chest,
BP,
Eye sight

There is no issue about stammering separately. But they also mentioned in that is your other body organs must function properly.

If your stammering rate is high then you have to explore for other opportunities.
if your stammering problem is not that and if it can be cured with some professional doctor.

Please do that and then apply for your Dream IPS job.
First eradicate your problem in order to become eligible for IPS examination.

Dear friend,

Sorry to say that you are not eligible for IPS exam because they want physically fit persons.

IPS exam is conducted by UPSC. There are some criteria you have to follow for appearing in IPS exam.

Those candidate have completed graduation in any discipline from recognized university are eligible for IPS exam.

But your age should be in between 21-30years for general candidate.
In IPS exam their is provide age relaxation for OBC candidate is 3years and for SC/ST candidate is 5 years.

The maximum attempts for Sc/ST candidate is Unlimited. For OBC candidate it is 7 years and for general candidate it will be 5 years.

Also you must be citizen of India.

PROCESS BECOME A IPS OFFICER:-

1. Fill up the Application form.

2.Preliminary exam is consist of two papers.

a) General studies -----150 marks

b)From Optional subject -------300 marks

3.If you have qualify in Preliminary exam then you have to go for IPS mains exam.

4.After completion of your main exam you have to go for Interview.

Physical requirement for IPS officer

Height – Male 165 cm Pahari Male (general also) & ST
(not the SC/ OBC) – 160 cm
Female 150 cm Pahari Female (general
also) & ST (not SC/ OBC)- 145 cm
Chest – Male Minimum 84 cm. Expansion 5 cm.
Female Min 79 cm expansion 5 cm.
(Those can’t expand the chest go to next service. If
expansion is less during 1st Medical, i.e. just after
interview; during second Medical, i.e. after the
result, or appeal, expansion can be shown.)
Many people fail in this test of chest expansion.
(I know some people who have cleared this exam during
the second Medical Test, i.e. after the Medical Exam

Eye sight � 6/6 or 6/9 distant vision for good eye.
6/12 or 6/9 for worst eye.
Near vision J 1 for good eye.
J2 for worst eye.
The correction is by lenses
only.
High standard for the Colour-blind test.
No inherent night blindness.
Vision should stereoscopic.
Blood pressure (High) � Age 23 � 123, age 24 � 124,
age 25 �122, age 28 � 124, age 30 �125, age 32 � 126,
age 34 � 127.
Ladies should not be pregnant at the time of Medical
Test.
Ear- good listening & normal ear cavity. 1000 to 4000
frequency hearing impairment shd not be more than 30
decibels.
Nasal- candidate should not stammer while speaking.

You are not eligible for IPS if you are stammer....

this problem may be arises while inter view. if your stammering rate is low then you can try to rid of this by practice & docter's adwise.
Please do that and then apply for your Dream IPS job.
First eradicate your problem in order to become eligible for IPS examination.it will finish your opportunity in this exam.you can eradicate this problem by your firm will power & practice.

hi,
IPS (Indian Police Services) is a very good carrier option, you might be knowing as you have opted this carrier for yourself.
i asked my uncle about your problem. He is an IPS Officer dear, and he told me that it comes under physical fitness and depending upon the conition that is extent of your stammering, decision is taken.
because it will create problem for you durin interviews.

so , if you stammer a little then it ain't going to create much problem for you and if you stammer alot then take therapy from a therapist to cure your problem.
and keep singing songs, it will improve your stammering.

i read above comments .I ALSO STAMered since childhood.i want to know that why stammering people cant become ips officer .i am since 9th standard .i want to become an IAS officer in the future .

If im in attention my knees are knocking a bit each other. WIll i be not opted for IPS?

My left hand thumb is slightly small than that of right hand because of injured in an accident , can I eligible for IPS EXAM?
